Just got one for $99 at local Home Depot. The store has electric scissor lift, the female staff took the box down from shelf top no sweat. Gonna apply $25 rebate with my District.

Just got mine, it's a little weak, but I got it for the wife, so, should be fine.
How weak is it? I opted not to get one and want to feel good about passing this up LMAO I think I'd go for a gas or higher voltage one when I actually need a chainsaw.

Does Makita usually charge their batteries?
In my experience working with lithium battery OEMs we typically shoot to ship at battery at above 30 % and never more than 70% of charged capacity. I would assume Makita follows this same process as they use the same cell manufacturers I have.

The issue is that makita ships the battery loaded in the saw. Battery was dead after sitting on the shelf. Not sure if the tool has a bit of draw, but my guess. They should package it separately as mine was 0 bars too

Got one in SD at imperial marketplace. They had at least one more in stock at the back by the garden exit. It wasn't with the rest of the chainsaws or with the standard power tools both of which are in different areas. If you go there, it's basically aisle 1/2 by the exit on the top rack. Reachable if you climb a shelf or two... Otherwise you'll need to grab a ladder. Rang up at 99 despite the two different clearance labels having different prices.
Thanks! Stopped there this morning and bought one. It was exactly where you described it would be. They had one more left as of around 7:45am.

I use any oil on hand. Keeping bar clean and teeth sharp is way more important than oil brand.

For those hooked onto another brand system, you can get this tool and use your batteries whatever the brand, whether Milwaukee, Bosch, you name it. Just buy an adapter from amazon that converts your brand to this Makita tool. Then sell the charger and battery, and you got a nearly free tool lol. Now that's slick
