This is an all-time low price for digital, according to Deku Deals. It probably won't go much lower than this for at least a year, maybe it'll be $39.99 in that time, but not less. This is Nintendo 1st party we're talking.
Lowest retail physical ever for this game is still $39.99.
Is this game good for a 6 year old to play? Or too advanced?
A 6 year old could enjoy the game if it's his/her type of game. It plays using motion controls so once a player gets a hang of it the game can be enjoyed. There is a single-player campaign that could be played first to learn the game.

Digital on the eShop is the same price, or you can get digital and the expansion pass for $67. Not really sure that discounts the actual dlc, but they have it bundled, so there's that at least.
I have splatoon 2, is there any good reason to buy this?
Wondering the same thing. I bought Splatoon 2 a while back but it's part of my backlog. Wondering if Splatoon 2 is still relevant or if getting Splatoon 3 is needed for more active play.

Online battles can get very competitive. It's an esport game with tournaments. The game looks cute but has depth in terms of strategy, weapons, ability (from clothing) etc. and requires certain skill level to be competitive and enjoy it. Younger players can start with the single player mode and go from there. Jumping into online too quickly they'd just keep getting killed and get frustrated.
i just bought this game because of this sale. It's gonna take me a while to get used to gyro aiming in this game. the developer made the annoying decision to only allow horizontal joystick aiming if motion aiming is enabled. that means you have zero control over vertical aiming with the right joystick. I prefer to be able to make quick movements in any direction with the joystick and then use gyro for precision.
hopefully it will eventually click. it's a unique multiplayer experience.
it's a great game that has been greatly harmed by them continually breaking off old fans and new fans into different iterations, 1, 2, 3
they should just have a tier of games that cost a bit more per month of nintendo online multiplayer fees, it wouldn't have to be that much if players are sticking around for many months and years, the dollars to nintendo could be similar as now and keep all the players together, and just issue some addons and software updates "free/included" and not keep diluting player pools every year
