I've generally avoided Amazon since I got stranded with a counterfeit Diesel back in college. eBay seems to have a higher rate of legitimate sellers, but you still need to be cautious. I've bought plenty of bottles with no issues, but I got a fake bottle of Sauvage. Seller had a great rating, listing with just a stock photo, and it was an auction that didn't go very high, but it was laughably fake when it arrived. Seller was hesitant at first to issue a refund but I pushed back because it was blatantly counterfeit. Usually they give in because eBay doesn't mess around with counterfeits once they get wind.
By and large, I just stick with online discounters. You can definitely save a few bucks if you go to eBay, but the risk is higher for sure.
