Damn good deal for an 83". It shares the name with the S90C, but it's using an LG WOLED panel.

.gov or edu won't work for this deal. You need to have access to EPP to get the pricing op has mentioned. I can create an epp account for you. Trading $5 amazon. Dm if interested.

I purchased yesterday, and this morning I see the CB pending in PaypalHoney for 4.5%. I always get Amex CB when using it for Paypal, so I expect to see that after the payment posts also..
Thanks. I ordered with PayPal after clicking through the 4.5% cb link I found on their site. Checked and it's pending, thanks.

Yeah, after seeing your post I looked for it on the PP site but it wasn't one of my offers. But it showed up in the Hny browser extension.

I did the same comparison today at BestBuy. The 83'' was not on display. But they have LG G3 83'' and G3 77'' next to each other. The 77'' clearly wins except for the size. The panel difference is definitely real, and is easy to see side by side.

They also have s90c, QN900 and qn90C side by side on a wall.

They are all amazing TVs, honestly you are good with any of them. They all look great with the demo content that you can switch and there isn't much difference between them.

The QLEDs are a lot brighter side by side. But not all scenes, in many S90C appeared brighter. But S90C is really bright on the store floor.
It is really hard to look at black floor and contrast on a brightly lit store floor, but there are scenes where the OLED shows off its strengths. In many scenes, the OLED shows deeper/denser colors, even when the QLEDs are clearly brighter. Not sure how to describe this, the purple flower is more purple. The oranges on the sunset looks better on OLED. But at the same time the QLED is clearly brighter.

You can kind of see contrast differences as well. OLED definitely shows off its advantages. It clearly has more pop, likely due to the contrast and skin tones look really natural.

OLED will offer a better and refined movie/HDR experience in a room with no direct sunlight. This is the only use case I would be interested in evaluating TV performance. Not everyone cares about these kind of things. Most people would be happy with any of these TVs, and I expect most people would pick the QLEDs, due to the additional brightness.

If your primary use case is watching the TV in a room filled with sunlight, you are better choosing the QLED. Sports does appear brighter on QLEDs, this is one area I saw QLEDs won.

note:
I was wowed by the 'The Frame' in art mode and spent quite some time. The TV performance is nowhere near the above models. But the art mode with matte is really good. I would buy one just to display the art, but there is no place to hang this thing for now.
Parents looking upgrade their TV, they pretty much watch Netflix or Prime. Huge room probably sitting 15-17ft away. Currently on an older lg c7 65" oled. Which would you recommend between the 3?

All these TVs are phenomenal. You can't wrong with any of them.

If this is just kids watching the TV, I would go with QN90C.
1. Not a movie setup
OLEDs shine on HDR scenes with contrast/darkness all mixed in, especially in a movie watching setup. There are very few kids shows that will fall into that category. (eg. Strager things would look better on the OLED)
2. Brightness
Kids stuff are all bright, so falls into a category where QLEDs have a distinct advantage with brightness.
3. Size
Considering the EPP pricing QN90c 85'' is cheaper than the 83''. I cancelled my order for 83'' and replaced it with 77'' since the 83'' panel is not QD-OLED. BestBuy have LG G3 83 and 77 side by side. You can clearly see the difference MLA makes.
4. Burn in
If kids are mostly using the TV, I would be worried about burn in. With an LED you don't have to worry about these sort of things. We are still using a 11 year old plasma that went through the kids stage. We will be moving this to our bedroom this week end once the 77'' OLED arrives.
5. SDR
Most kid shows would simply be in SDR. OLEDs are really close or appear brighter for most HDR content (Except when the entire screen lights up). But SDR is another story. The QLEDs are 3-4x brighter. With that much brightness, your eye can't even see the differences in black level.

But if you are prioritizing movies and TV shows, the OLED at this price point is a no brainer.

If I just watch TV and HDR movies, will this 83" OLED be okay or should I return it and get the 77 or 85 QLED?

I have never seen 83'' in person. I can't even find any reviews or measurements for this. All reviews, measurements and comparisons that I could find are for the QD-OLED panel. Hence I decided to step down to 77''.

Since 83'' uses the same panel as LG C3, I am just going by how G3 83'' and G3 77'' are looking side by side.

Honestly, I have zero experience on these, so this is just a personal hypothesis. I also have no sources to conclude the 83'' will perform worse, same or better than any other TV. There are no measurements, reviews I could find, nor was I able to see one in person.

So I will refrain from making a recommendation on which one is better.

Isn't this it https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews.../s90c-oled ?

Compares quite well to the C3 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c3-oled
but I think I'd miss my Dolby Vision.

I currently have DV on my 4-year-old no-OLED set. I am looking to get the C3, but this is a lot bigger and cheaper. But at this point, I think that every I'm not happy with something, I'll think that I should have got the other.

If you read the review they also say the following
Quote :
We bought and tested the 65-inch Samsung S90C, and these results are also valid for the 55-inch and 77-inch models. The 83-inch model uses a WOLED panel instead of the QD-OLED panel found in the smaller sizes, so our results don't apply to it.
So the review doesn't apply to the 83 inch model, since it uses the LG panel. (The same one used by C3). This is the reason, I decided to go with the 77 inch.

Given we are talking rtings here.

Compared with C3
S90C is a slightly better overall TV
Compared with G3
The LG G3 OLED and Samsung S90C OLED are comparable OLEDs, each with its strengths.

I echo the same sentiments. For me C3 < s90c = G3 more or less.

But this simply does not apply for the 83 inch model, since all of them use the same panel used by C3.

Mine got delivered today. Coming from a still strong LG B1 Oled I bought 8 years ago and I can say the brightness is very good and the colors are so natural and not over saturated like other Samsung TVs. So having a stable WOLED LG panel is a blessing in disguise

Mine gets delivered Saturday and I'll check it out. I did go in store and looked at the 77" which I loved and looked at the QN60/50 and I hated how grainy that one looked. So I'm not sure how people are saying the QN is better than the 83 S90C

No way. LED is better than OLED
