YSK you won't be able to effectively use all 6 holes. It's basically impossible to grow the maximum number of pods in these tabletop hydroponic systems as they are too cramped. The plants will just compete for light and nutrients too much. Realistically, you can basically use 2/3 the holes if you want leafy plants, like greens, and 1/3 the holes only, if you want fruiting plants, like tomatoes or peppers, which are heavy nutrient feeders. So it's like "6 pod" AeroGarden = 2 fruiting plants; "9 pod" AeroGarden = 3 fruiting plants. And, among AeroGarden's "6 pod" systems, this 360 is the one where the pod holes are the most compact. So it's sort of like:

- 1 REALLY healthy fruiting plant, in the middle.
- 2 PRETTY healthy fruiting plants if you put them on the sides, far from each other. But then each of them will get less grow light on one side of the plant.
- 3 healthy leafy plants in a top-bottom-top or bottom-top-bottom triangle shape.

If you want to use all 6 pods it's only for like starting plants and than repotting them, or, growing some super dainty non-bushy type herbs.

The most effective thing this will grow is your AeroGarden expense bill, as you'll quickly find yourself wanting to buy more AeroGardens for more plant space.
They will replace the ones that don't grow no questions asked. They have a quick easy online form.

Thanks for the advice. I was looking at something like this for basil, mint, and one other herb (for cocktails and cooking). Sounds like it would work alright for that? Other than wanting more spots, of course
Yeah it absolutely would work. For herbs, basil and mint (and dill) grow like crazy but 2 pods space per herb is plenty. And with daintier herbs than those you could even use all 6 pods.

Be aware this is bright and it's on for hours at a time. I didn't think it would bother me but it eventually did. I would suggest placing this outside of the kitchen or other frequently used area. IME everything grew fine. Dill really took over which is good if you cook a lot of Greek food or fish. Basils were good for Thai and Italian although not enough for pesto. Thyme was great for stews and steaks. Didn't really have any use for mint but it grew fine. Experimented with cilantro and like someone else said, it really lacked that earthy taste like from the grocery store. At the end of the day, the care and pruning became a bit burdensome so I went back to just buying from the store.

I found cilantro and lettuce to have no flavor. Probably due to the lack of minerals in hydroponics.
That's not an issue with hydroponics in general. I can't speak to the aerogarden liquid fertilizer since I stopped using it after the first bottle.

I use General Hydroponics MaxiGro and the herbs taste great (well 'normal' since I grow a fair bit of cilantro but hate the stuff...) For $15-20, you get enough for... damn near forever... in a tiny setup like this one. You really need an EC/TDS meter also so you're not guessing at concentration, but that's only another $15. That's only a few of the small bottle of AG fertilizer which won't last very long. You can get the jug also, which is like 12 (?) bottles... much cheaper but still vastly overpriced.

I wind up cutting back the basil rather viciously because it grows so fast, but it makes the room smell nice for a bit. (This on a 9 site model, with 4 cilantro, 2 basil, and the middle 3 sites covered over.)

Yeah, and at this price get 2. Every so often, these need to be restarted to clean out the reservoir which will wind up with some pretty amazing intermingled root clumps. Seeds/baby plants need 1/2 concentration of fertilizer so it's easiest to do a good clean and restart entirely. If you have 2 units you can offset the start dates by 6 or 8 weeks and have plants going all the time (and/or experiment with some other herbs.)

Most items sold at warehouse clubs have unique model numbers and other stores will not price match.

Not threadcapping, this is a good price.

If you're a cheapskate these can be found free or real cheap on cl/fb marketplace because people get sick of em or don't want them when gifted.

The tiny basket size the AGs use makes anything but small plants a nightmare to relocate to another system. Something using full size netcups like 3 inch ones make it trivial.

Don't know why it was marked expired, Saw item was marked down again and was almost able to buy a second unit with the price adjustment from the first purchase....now I have to wait for the seed starter trays to go on sale......Which were not included even though they were shown on the product page! YMMV again at a higher rate
