From my personal experience, this is the worst speaker in their lineup. Mine died after 18 months, along with many others. The orange light of death. Well known problem, with no fix.

Agreed, listened to this and several others side by side at Costco and this sonos sounded like sound was coming from a tin can, super hollow and tinny compared to the Bose flex and Jbl flip, which were much more full sounding.

I have a bunch of different Sonos products, including the Arc full surround setup and the Move (actually have 3 for different rooms in the house). I really love the Roam. It sounds great for such a dinky size speaker. I use it a lot during the summer for the pool and also bring it with me on roadtrips. It works on both BT and WiFi so I can temporarily include it as a part of the whole house setup in areas where I can't plug anything in. I got mine on Facebook Marketplace for $100, but without the charger. This is a decent deal.

I contemplated the roam as I love my Sonos speakers but due to reviews, i opted for a $60 ue Megaboom from Sam's club. Not sure you can get it for that price but it's been great as I can hook it to my paddle board and not worry about it getting wet. I'd be so much more worried about the roam as it doesn't have a spot to clip it onto things.

Being both BT and an AirPlay Speaker is really nice feature.

Get a extended warranty it will fail after 1 year warranty period. It happened to a lot of people and they will just give you a discount code at best.
