Used to be a Netgear fanboy; had at least half a dozen different models.

Not since they took YEARS to fix problems with Nighthawk 7350 and tried to charge $60 just to tell me to install the latest firmware when I'd already told them I'd done that. I had been complaining about the problem since 2 months after install, but they told me my warranty had expired after a year, despite never fixing the problem.

6 months AFTER I abandoned them, they released a firmware update which fixed the problem, which had been in the firmware for 3 years.

AFAIC, I will never buy Netgear again.

I have a netgear RAX20 and it's a piece of junk. Lose network often, have to manually reboot about once a month on average to regain network. I won't buy a netgear router again. Asus has always been solid but I strayed away and got my netgear because I found a deal… should've paid more for an Asus.

Not compatible with any other firmware e.g. Tomato or OpenWRT...for this reason I wouldn't want this even if you gave it to me for free.

my TP link Archer A7 (AC1750) is still going strong for several years. No issues with streaming.

Are there any advantages in upgrading to this?

That's such a rock solid router. If I hadn't changed to to fiber and received TWO FREE APs with the install, I'd still be using it. I could go months between rebooting.

They still make this? While this was an awesome router 10 years ago, you might want to invest in more recent technology.
This router was released in 2019.

Did you have any issues with 68u recently? I have been having to reboot the router every few days
Use this firmware. Don't use the latest firmware. I have 4 to cover my house and none needed a reboot for the last ~5 months.

ASUS RT-AC68U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.386.51665

I had this router almost for an year before switching to a mesh setup and the time I had this unit , it performed rock solid. Never needed a reboot with 30+ devices connected including IOT devices .

I have the same router, the V5 to be exact, I don't think this is honestly better than that router, it has less range and the 5GHz band is worse on this router.

Compared to my current router TP-Link TriBand AC4000, is it worth to get it for an upgrade? Please advice. Thanks everyone!

In for a spare for my folks. It seems like everytime there is a severe thunderstorm, they fry a cable modem or a router. They've since put stuff on a coax protector and/or surge protector, but...

Don't upgrade unless you see a deal on WiFi-6E. This is only WiFi-6.

Solid router paid $60. But sometimes I have to reset and change IP and it causes it to not reconnect properly through xfinity modem. Eventually have to do a full factory reset and reconnect which is hit and miss and sometimes take 30-45 mins and multiple attempts
