Possibly true. We can't compare it to an expensive food processor, but it is definitely a massive improvement over our old $50-$100 food processor... making nut butters is drastically faster and they come out much smoother. Reasons I went for this attachment over an expensive food processor is because I figured this attachment would take a bit less storage space than a full other machine, and because our Vitamix has a 10 year warranty, whereas most food processors have a 1-3 year warranty, so I'm less worried about burning the motor out. Also, some of the nicer food processors can get pretty damn expensive... the Breville 12 cup is $300, and a Vitamix with this attachment probably performs closer to a $300 Breville than a $100-$200 KitchenAid or Cuisinart, but who knows.
Love my vitamix blender. I don't like this attachment and it's not worth it. You want to shred cheese? Chunks of it will get caught in the corners, There is about a 4mm gap between the lip of the feed tube and the blade. When you finish a chunk of cheese it will just throw that chunk around the blade. It's also much too large for most needs and it's a pain in the ass to clean. I routinely go back to using my three cup kitchen aid for most things.

I have a model 780 but do not know if that falls under Ascent and Venturist series. Anyone know?

Not worth it to be honest, just as expensive as any other nice food processors. Making dough causes it to overheat sometimes.

Agreed. You can get a whole unit from Costco and the amazing return policy.

Bigger unit means larger place to store, more expensive, etc. Some want to use for sparingly situations.

While this is an all time low per CCC, looks like it was $155.70 for almost last 4 months, so small tick down on 1/28/24.

Great food processor attachment. We cook every meal in the house. This one has seen a great amount of use.

You overheat your Vitamix making dough? I have had an A3500 for years and it is tough as nails.

It's a decent food processor. One thing that bugs me is that once you put this baby on your vitamix, it only has one speed, no more variable speed (I think I have an ascent 3300). Only other complaint is I tried to do a big batch of falafel, and it just couldn't handle it. I mean, it was pretty full, but it didn't look like it would be more than capacity. I had to take it out and do it in smaller batches.

Recently, I made some nice hummus in it, as well as some biscuit dough. Is it as good as one of the Cuisinart ones for not much more as a standalone? I don't know.
