Spirit is great when everything goes right. But when things go wrong as they inevitably do, you're farked.
Also Pro Tip: If you're able to purchase Spirit or Frontier tickets at the airport they will waive the online Passenger Usage Fee. It can vary per flight but it's usually $22 each ticket and per segment/layover.
So for example I had a flight from Atlanta to Seattle for $74. There was a layover in Las Vegas so that took an additional $22 off on top of the standard airport discount. In total I paid about $60 roundtrip.

2. Trip insurance does not guarantee getting to your destination on time.
3. The people who bought non-refundable tickets arrive at the same time as the people who bought refundable or first class tickets.
4. If flights to your destination are full on every airline, nothing can be done, even if you have trip insurance.
5. If you live in Waterloo, Iowa or Richmond, Virginia, there are never multiple flights to a destination.
6. Depending on the airline, if your flight is late and you miss a connection, you may be confirmed or placed on stand-by for the next flight.
The advice you've given is useless. This site has had numerous posts with non-refundable flights and discounted packages, now you're saying don't book "non-refundable all-inclusive" packages? Those are the ones you save money with. Isn't that why we're here? If it isn't non-refundable, it's always more expensive.

I'm in Atlanta so they usually have someone at the desk all day.

Are you the same big mike who wrote the following? "Quote from big mike :
Flying from an airport that has multiple flights to your destination, or booking an itinerary that won't cost you an arm and a leg if you're late/miss it. EG don't book a huge non-refundable all inclusive package/cruise/whatever and then buy a discount plane ticket that may cause you to forfeit some or all of the continuation of the trip on the other end. Or buy trip insurance."
You have trouble remembering your own words? Read it again where you said "non-refundable" but told me you never mentioned it. I tried to correct your misguided statement because I worked for an airline for 27 years and have actually dealt with airline tickets and contracted all-inclusive resorts. Telling people not to book a flight or package because you might miss a flight or your flight may be cancelled is doomsayer nonsense.

Regardless, these low prices are likely an attempt to get fast cash to mitigate their Chapter 11 losses for the next person taking over. Good luck
