I'm probably in the minority, but I wasn't a fan. I got bored of it almost halfway through and never played it again.

Amazing game. It is like playing a Ghibli movie. It stinks that the remastered edition isn't on the Switch.

Agreed, great game. I didn't know there was a remastered version. I'll have to wait for that to go on sale on Steam and play it again on Steam Deck.

I'm right there with you. The second game is way better. The story and gameplay in this one bored me to death. The combat basically plays itself. I will never understand the love for this game, and the lack of love for the second.

Similar experience, enjoyed the graphics but catching creatures/battles were not super engaging

It's kind of a kid's game. Not super challenging. But the characters, art style and just.. feel of the game are enchanting. I played through both this one and the sequel, and I found the first one to be more memorable.

Same price for PlayStation. Should I buy this on the Nintendo or on the PS5? Which console do you think you will enjoy this better?

Here's a tip I wish I knew: level up your pals/Pokémon/monsters to max level before you evolve them

Why, what does that do?

You carry over a certain amount of your stats when you evolve (10% iirc). So in the end they are more powerful when they reach max level in their evolutions

I felt the same way on my first (half-way) playthrough. I dismissed it as 'boring, and something for kids'. But then I later got into the Studio Ghibli films and started to appreciate that Ghibli/Miyazaki storytelling and artwork. It's definitely not for everyone, but thought I'd chime in since I ended up really liking it years later. I finished it 2 or 3 times, between PS3 and PS4 releases.

This doesn't apply to pokemon. You can get moves earlier if you don't evolve them but it doesn't make them stronger. Your IVs are set and you can EV train either by fainting pokes or using items to raise EV numbers.
