Seems like even if you disable camera, battery will drain pretty quick.
I'll keep my old keypad, require a battery once in 4 years

Replaced broken old keypad, battery lasts about 3 months and takes a long time to fully charge.

It costs almost as much as standard 80s style keypad. Even if you do not camera seems like good deal
Except "80's" style keypad battery lasts forever compared to this.

I don't own this, but I own a myQ hub. I think the reason why you can't operate the remotely is because the hub has a loud beeping alert and flashing light to warn anyone who might be near that the door is closing. It also has a tilt sensor that confirms when the door is open or closed. Now that might not be how our why this devices or features work but that my guess. And I don't know what else comes in the keypad box. Just my guess.

I got them for $39.99 each at Costco. One each for 2 garage doors. Even if your trial subscription ends, you can just use the camera to view things in real time. I have a few Ring cameras around my house for recording purposes. Have no problem using myQ app to open/close garage doors after installing these. Batteries last 3 months for me, bought a 3rd one just to use the battery as a spare and the unit as a back up just in case. Worth it for me.

I really wanted to get this but my dumb garage door opener doesn't have remotr capabilities, wired only. Does anyone know if any company makes a relay that just clicks the button inside when you put the right code in keypad?

Where do you see the option to open and close the garage in the myq app

mine works with no subscription. The camera will work, you just don't get to keep the footage shot after viewed and the clips are shorter.

That is my only issue with this setup. I really like that you can setup individual entry codes so you know who's coming in every time. You can also setup temporary entry codes for guests or a quick visitor. I am going to purchase a 2nd battery to combat the battery issue. I believe another battery is around $30.

So, my 18 year old Chamberlain chain opener just broke it's drive shaft sprocket. Opted for a new Chamberlain belt drive opener installed myself. Very happy with quietness and quickness of door opening/closing and the MyQ app which allows me to know when open and close and/or do it remotely. Bottom line my old school pin pad working fine when paired with new opener.
