It is no big deal unless you stay a lot of nights with this promo. It is an extra night towards elite status which gets you lounge access when you hit 50 nights in a year.

1,000 points are valued at about $8

Not bad...at least I was able to actually apply this promo - 3/4 of the time, they don't apply to my account.

Not the greatest promo, unless you have some serious stay activity coming up in the next few months. But I'll take it, as any extra points will help offset the devaluation Marriott has done to their redemption / hotel category process over the past few years. still not as bad as Hilton devalued their program...but it's getting there in the race to the bottom of the devaluation path.

It accelerates status level. Elite Nights are accumulated and at certain tiers you achieve different status levels (generally every 25 nights). Status tiers allow you to get upgrades and to accumulate points on an accelerated rate. Other than that, elite nights don't really mean much (other than lifetime nights which again get you lifetime status tiers).

Yeah I was super stoked to see this because in the past I've literally checked into a cheap hotel close by just for the significant elite credits (I used to travel a ton but don't anymore and wanted to get lifetime platinum status). But I just hit lifetime platinum at the new year with my 25 night credits from credit card so now there's nothing for me to gain...except saving money I guess!

Diamond? Might be checking the wrong app...this is a marriott promo not a hilton. Check through the app under account and 'Promotions and Offers' I was able to sign up through there.

Another trick is if you're using points to book and you only need 3 or 4 nights, book to 5 and the 5th night will be free - so if you only need 4, book 5 - it won't cost any more points but you'll get an extra night credit. I've done that a few times. Some times depending on where you are staying, even if you only need 3 nights it might make sense to book 5, and get 2 extra nights for 1 night's points (if the nightly rate is cheap enough).

Change your "Earning Preferences" from miles to points. This worked for me after.

Everyone getting "Not Eligible" error message: change your Profile Preferences, scroll down to "Earnings Preferences" and if it's on "Miles" change it to points and go back to Promotion page. This worked for me.

Wyndam is currently listed as having the best "bang for your buck" when it comes to loyalty point value. From Nerdwallet:

Basically, we're saying that if you spend $100 at a Wyndham hotel, you will earn roughly $12 back in rewards points. That's pretty good, assuming you actually use the points. On the other end, if you spend $100 at a Hilton hotel, we estimate that you will get about $5 worth of rewards in return.

Hotel program

Point value

Best Western Rewards

0.7 cent.

IHG One Rewards

0.8 cent.

Hilton Honors

0.5 cent.

World of Hyatt

2.3 cents.

Marriott Bonvoy

0.8 cent.

Radisson Rewards

0.8 cent.

Wyndham Rewards

1.2 cents.
