500°F tolerance is maybe too low for engine paint. Any area near or on the exhaust system could easily exceed this temperature limit. Not sure what low gloss paint is.
This paint could be considered for use on fire place tools, but typically flat black is the paint of choice for this application.

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank EdEd1190

Seems like this can only be used on lower temp things like engine blocks and valve covers. Maybe even water pump if car doesn't overheat.

But probably with higher temp things like exhaust manifolds, brake calipers, etc. it would be worth paying a few bucks more and getting the 2,000F version.

You would be surpised I used engine paint on brake drums 20 years ago and not an issue whatsoever. You really need to know the role of the device. 500F is probably better for things like crossmembers and steel engine brackets/mounts not as much the cast engine parts. I think it may be fine on a stock iron block engine but probably would flake off an aluminum engine if it got good and hot. Not gonna work on the Heads whatsoever, I mean it could on some engines just not super durable.

BUT, this is a good cheap coat for a stock engine refresh, or garage transmission rebuild/refreshes. It keeps the metal from rusting/oxidizing for a few years early on before flaking at the very least and that is VERY helpful in the world of auto maintenance and aesthetics for those of us who are not working on show cars.

Mine have not shipped yet nor have I been billed I am not expecting a cancellation that's often how Amazon works on obscure items. Perhaps things like this are Manufacturer sell-offs and Amazon hoards orders to know a more exact quantity to distribute...? I dunno, and I WORK for Amazon in logistics...... lol

True, could use this on underbody things like rusty rear axles, differential covers, control arms, etc. Scrub them down with a wire brush, and hit them with a couple coats of this paint. That would give them a fresh new look.

My 8-71 blown BBC hooptey has a couple of cans of this exact paint on it... been going strong for 5 years without issue.
