I'm a total Boglehead. Never received a K1. Which fund sent that to you? Sounds to me like it's maybe unclear where to enter, but still supported? Many tax options will not let you e-file if you override the questionnaire.
Many people claim online to be things they are not. Your posts conflict with the Boglehead philosophy and practice, so either you completely misunderstood the concept or are not really a Boglehead.

No, it's not "supported", as I have explained repeatedly, since you cannot e-file with a K-1.

I suggest you read the Boglehead forum to learn more about investing and to learn when and why a mutual fund or other investment needs to send a K-1.

Not sure there is much value in continuing the discussion, I will leave you to your misunderstandings.

Since you could not provide me with any example of a fund that provides a K-1, I used my Google-fu to find some information. TurboTax support [intuit.com] says:
Quote :
Given that there are multiple K-1 forms tailored to the entities above, there are three general groups that will typically receive a Schedule K-1:

Business owners, co-owners, and partners
Shareholders and investors
Those receiving income or assets from a trust or estate
Yahoo Finance has a list of ETFs that send a K-1:
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/et...ccounter=1

These doesn't really fit with the core Boglehead philosophy [bogleheads.org], but I see plenty of people receiving these forms on that forum.

Here is a Boglehead thread with many happy FreeTaxUSA users, including those with complex taxes. Oh and several posters that mentioned it is easier to use than the clunky H&R Block software. Several supporters for OLT.com as well: https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/...p?t=423357

Also note several posts about H&R Block not supporting e-file with form 1116 properly because it lacks a PDF engine apparently. Foreign tax paid out of mutual funds/ETFs is quite common. E-filing 1116 is supported by FreeTaxUSA, OLT, and TurboTax. This is one Cash App won't do.

You are right about one thing - there is no value in us continuing this conversation.

Some TaxHawk and TaxFreeUSA reviews form the BBB. As an aside how much trust do we have in a company that uses multiple storefronts and names to do business? This corporation uses at least three. Typically that is Chinese merchant kind of behavior.

Not free - false advertising! I went through the *** free file section, clicked on FreeFileUSA because it says "All States Free" and after entering ALL of my information it says you have to enter your credit card and pay $14.99 for state filing.

I completed my return and it was pretty easy but, after I submitted my return, I realized I had not uploaded my W-2s. I had to email them because there is no phone number and I got an email response stating that I needed to click in the link for a response, and it conveniently led me to a dead end where the server was not working properly. This is so frustrating and now my refund will be delayed. There should be a requirement for there to be a phone number to call

I will NEVER be using Tax Hawk again. I used them to do my 2020 and 2021 taxes and because I had not filed my 2020 taxes I ended up doing my 2020 taxes the same day I did my 2021 taxes. I paid tax hawk for both sets of taxes. Later when I tried again to access my *************************************************** back to my 2021 taxes. I contacted customer support and they were of NO support!!! I will be filing a formal complaint to recover the monies I did pay for my 2021 taxes that I now will have to have redone. BUT, I WILL NEVER USE TAX HAWK AGAIN AND UNLESS YOU LIKE HEADACHES AND ISSUES I WOULDNT RECOMMEND USING TAX HAWK!!

I went to my State's tax website to find a free solution for filing taxes. One of the options was "FreeTaxUsa Free File Edition" - Free is state TWICE. I clicked the link and it went to their webpage that says "Free Federal and State Filing For anyone with an *** under $46,000"and "If you don't qualify, your Federal return is free and State filing is $14.99"AND "Do you qualify for Free Federal and State? You can file free if...Your Adjusted Gross Income was $46,000 or less in 2022"AND a place to click labeled "Start Your Free Return"Spoiler alert. There is no free return. I entered all the information. The *** was way below $46K and a half hour later when it was time to file, it wouldn't let me proceed unless I paid $14.99. I sent a message to support 3 days ago asking what the deal was and got no response. I'm not sure how this could be any more misleading. What part of "Free Federal and State" don't I understand? The qualifications are clear and I qualify. Only after spending a half hour painstakingly entering all the info do they drop the bomb that "oops, we lied. It's not free"Disgusting.

I use FreeTaxUSA to set up my taxes since the time we got those checks during the pandemic. It is easy to do.I used them for my 2022 taxes. When I got to my state tax area, it asked for ***** to e-file it (keep this in mind). So I put in my card info and continued. Found out as I got to the end, since my fed and state taxes were all zeroes, I couldn't e-file and had to print and mail them in.So I asked to have the ***** returned to me. And was told that "their website charges a fee to prepare your state return. That is, we charge a fee to calculate your tax due/refund and place the correct numbers in the right place on your tax forms. This fee is the same regardless of whether you e-file or mail a paper return. If you wish to print your state forms from our website, you will still be charged the same preparation fee."I want to point out the info in quotes was NEVER placed on the page about paying. ONLY that the charge is to get the form e-filed. I told the *** that it was wrong, especially since they make you pay before you know if you can e-file or not!! This is a pretty scummy thing to do.They did eventually set up to return the *****, reason why I gave 2 instead of 1 star. BE CAREFUL.

I filed my 2021 Tax with FreeTaxUSA. After receiving email to file my 2022 Return with them, and there TV ads on national networks. I went to their website and signed in with last years user and password. I followed their instructions to order my product as fist step. Their second step requirement was for me to pay **** for a printed copy after the return was finalized. Upon moving to third step that I learned that I had ordered copy of 2021 Return. They deceived me out of ****.

I only have bad things to say about this company. I got in touch with *************************, a credit repair specialist. Since I tend to shop about when it comes to filing my Taxes I specifically informed ************************* that I simply wanted to see how much I would receive back in case I chose to go somewhere else. ************************* refused to tell me who the Tax Preparer was. I don't know the name of the person who performed my taxes. As a result, ************************* and her Tax preparer with this company filed my taxes without my knowledge. I asked ***** if she could send me a copy of my Tax paperwork. as I was reviewing my documents it says it was self-prepared meaning that I actually prepared them myself, which is false. She asserted that her assistant has been handling taxes for more than ten years, and she falsely stated that I was a travel nurse on my tax return despite the fact that I have never given her any documentation proving this. After depositing $420 of my tax refund into her account, she blocked me. So I will be pursuing legal action against both ************************* and this organization.

I have contacted this company multiple times and left chasing my own tail. My state tax return was disbursed February 16th it is now March 21st and my $1000 tax return is in their bank accounts in imaginary limbo and I'm unable to get in contact with anyone who has more information. The service they use to take fees from your funds has a horrible business rating and it's impossible to speak to a live person with TPG as well. The average American should not use freetaxusa because you will not see your money for the foreseeable future. I'm out $1,004 because these people cannot communicate with each other or the customers. $1,004 might not seem like a lot to other people but it's a whole paycheck to me.

I filed my taxes with FreeTaxUSA.After my information was processed. I reviewed that my bank account information is wrong. All the way wrong! I reached out to support and they told me to call my local state agency. Absolutely NO help at all! After calling my state treasury. I was told that I had to wait for the bank it was sent to, to send it bank and then a check will be mailed. I DONT EVEN TRUST THAT ANSWER! I am on disability and limited resources. This has caused severe issues at this point. In addition to reaching out to FreeTaxUSA after I called my local agency, I was told that I could pay to amend my filing. NOT SO FREE! I simply don't have the money to that! So basically THEY REROUTED MY MONEY! SCAMMERS

FreeTaxUSA clearly states multiple times that they will save your returns for 7 years and if you have an account you can access your saved returns. However, when you try to access your returns with a free file account, they say you cannot access prior year returns. It's incredibly misleading, basically a straight up lie to say users have access to prior year returns.

Do Not Pay them, to pay what you owe. I received my Tax Refund so my banking info was entered correctly. But what I owed, was not paid to the state, per my paid. The filing cost was *****. I paid an additional ***** for them to pay what I owe to the state. "The **************** Replies, The $***** fee was not to have the state withdraw your state tax liability, the $***** fee was the fee that the third-party bank charges to withhold your FreeTaxUSA state tax preparation fees. So instead of paying the state tax preparation fees of $***** at the time of preparation, you selected to instead have that amount withheld from your refund. When making that selection we made it clear that there would be an additional $***** fee to do so."But, it was not WITHHELD, it is still in my available account balance, smart Rep. I just paid it this morning myself directly online. So they just to my $20 to tell me it's your responsibility to call the state. It should not be a service if you can deliver or WITHHOLD funds. This is just a way for FREE TAX USA to embezzle money from customers, collectively thousands or hundreds of thousands from their customers. They have nothing to do with paying your owed taxes. They will tell you to call the feds or the stat yourself. Not our responsibility... and I quote Customer Support,"We have transmitted the banking information to the state to withdrawal the $XXX.** payment, as requested. If the banking information has been entered correctly we recommend contacting ** by going to the following link: https://www.tax.ny.gov/help/conta...us-ind.htm When contacting ** you can inquire why the payment has not be withdrawn, and you if needed you can cancel the withdrawal to allow you to pay directly online. This can be done by going to the following ** link:https://www.tax.******/pay/"You will be paying for a dead transmission of banking info. TaxHawk is a good name. Bird of Prey.

FreeTaxUsa.com a subsidiary of Taxhawk, has had my state tax return for a week and a half now and refuse to deposit it into my account. I suspect they are accruing as much interest as they can on their customers money before sending it on. Have only received excuses and passing of the buck from them.

Paid for an amended return assuming they'd be doing all the work. After I already pay their system then explains that I have to print and mail the ammendment. If I'd of known that I would have printed the firms, filled them out and mailed them while saving the 13.95 I paid on each of my two accounts. They give warnings for everything else before payment so there is no excuse why they wait until after they have your funds to make you abreast of tax information a lay person would not know. They did the same thing earlier in the year when filing one of my tax returns. Waited until after I'd paid to tell me the its was not accepting them til a later date. I have used freetaxusa for at least 5 years. I will no longer use them as I feel taken advantage of and customer care responds with a cookie cutter reply to customer complaints.

I trust the Bogleheads reviewers [bogleheads.org] more. FreeTaxUSA/Taxhawk only uses employees that work and live in the United States [[url]https]. When I needed to call TurboTax support, the first layer definitely were not native English speakers.

What's the 3rd storefront? I don't see it?

But if we're going to use BBB:
H&R Block is 1.07/5 stars, BBB B rated, but not accredited [bbb.org]
Intuit is 1.09/5 stars, not BBB rated, and not BBB accredited [bbb.org] (after scrolling past the government action alerts)
TaxAct is 1.11/5 stars, BBB A+ rated, but not accredited [bbb.org]
TaxSlayer is 1.13/5 stars, BBB A+ rated, and accredited [bbb.org]
TaxHawk/FreeTaxUSA is 1.8/5 stars, BBB A rated and accredited [bbb.org]

Thanks for pointing out that Intuit and H&R Block are the worst and TaxHawk is the best, according to BBB! LMAO

I have a small request.
I typically buy one and share it with my brother. I was hoping to get it on the next deal but he needs it in a hurry as he will be travelling later.
Is there any chance, someone can just share the download/software so that he can start his return.
I dont need the keycode as I will be buying it shortly whenever the next deal around $20 shows up.

If you can share just the software, I will be very grateful

thanks
