good deal BUT unless you are really a roadie only i would go with some nice mtb or touring style clipped shoes. the soles of them actually allow walking off the bike. to me road shoes are probably only needed if your racing? i would love to hear if anyone uses these casually and why they like them over style clipless shoes w rubber soles you can walk in.

some cheaper but arguably more useful bike shoes: https://bikecloset.com/product/fi...SsQAvD_BwE

I had that problem too... after putting qty 2 in my cart, then backing down to 1, the price updated. It was strange.

That's a decent option, but many sizes are out of stock.

Some people may prefer Shimano (I have Shimano and know that they'll fit). Aren't road shoes a little lighter than other options? (if you care about weight)

Is this deal dead? It's $170 even after trying the quantity update trick above.

The key word is "casually." I can't speak for other riders, but when I'm on my road bike, it is to ride a significant distance and not do anything else, other than stop for a bathroom break. So for me, the lower weight and higher stiffness of a road shoe is more that worth it, since I am rarely walking in them. I also have a commuter bike that I use for more casual rides, and I have mtb clipless pedals and shoes for that. With so many different commuter/hybrid/comfort bike styles available, I don't think a lot of people are using road bikes for casual rides.
