I'd been waiting for a deal on this, and $40 off is quite a drop. In for one. Bosch 12V is my favorite platform.

It's not the sand paper shape, it's the sanding action. This one is orbital only, meaning it spins in a circle. GEX12V-5N is random orbital, so it spins in a circle while also moving in random directions. Random orbital sands more evenly, leaves less sanding marks, and extends life of sand paper.

Sand paper shape is just about where the sander can reach and price. 1/4 and 1/3 size can be cut from full sheets, but circle ones are bought individually. Sheets can reach inside corners better, but I believe circular pads last longer because they wear more evenly.

Will also chime in that this one has a interchangeable plate which allows for detail sanding which is great for inside corners where most random orbital (which tend to be circular) cannot effectively reach.

I do both furniture and cabinets usually, but this is one of 4 sander categories I like to have around. The others being a belt sander, 6" orbital, 5" orbital, and this one.
