I would agree. Not sure why they're trending. Cheap Nikes shoes are better quality than On top tier shoes.

I love these for walking. These are my daily driver, I bought at this exact price but in an even worse color in March of last year and they're still in great shape. I've seen lots of comments about durability but so far so good for me. I'm not using them for running, though.

I will say the laces have a habit of coming undone which is extremely annoying and seemingly unsolvable… but I like the shoe. Very lightweight and good support.

I mean, they're high-end running shoes. Saying they hold up to being used for walking isn't exactly the ultimate test.

I put 50 miles on these shoes and they were dead. Returned to REI. I do have the Cloudsurfer and they are much better, no nylon plate and a different sole design that makes them much more comfy. However, they squeak. I have other shoes in my rotation that I keep reaching for on daily runs.

You could just buy different laces. They look a little thinner than standard laces. So maybe not all would fit. But I'm sure you could find some thin aftermarket laces for a few bucks.
