After getting a replica Trail Loop instead of an authentic one, I won't buy any more Apple products from Amazon.
That said, I have two Alpine bands. I find them as comfortable as the Trail Loop. Takes an extra 30 seconds to put it on. I really like the Alpine bands.

Just to be clear, are are you saying you ordered an Apple band and received a replica instead? If so, how did you know it wasn't genuine Apple? Thanks for any info!

Charge currently in dispute, although Chase has issued a temporary credit while the matter is being resolved.
I ordered an Apple Trail Loop Band sold and shipped by Amazon. The green dot Apple seal tape was missing. That means it had been opened, returned to Amazon, and shipped to me as new. Initially, I didn't realize it was a fake. Within 4 weeks, it started unraveling. I then purchased the same band from the Apple store. While the Amazon band had no markings, the Apple band did, including "49mm" on the metal. The metal was silver colored, not titanium. At the request of Chase, I took it to the Apple Store, it was examined by the Genius Bar, and they provided a written printout detailing the examination and stating the watch was a fake. I am a 20 year Amazon customer.
If you go on Reddit, this has became a common problem, with Amazon continually denying they are shipping fake products. Amazon isn't doing this intentionally. They simply have a very poor system of internal controls. In my instance, I believe a dishonest customer ordered two identical colored bands, removed the genuine band, substituted the fake, and returned it.

That sucks you're having to deal with that. Amazon is very slow to refund Apple returned purchases, but apparently doesn't use that time to properly inspect the items they receive so others are not scammed in the way you were. Ridiculous.
Is Amazon putting up a fight/being difficult since they only offer a 14-day return window?

Holiday purchases have longer windows. In case of counterfeit items, I doubt the policy would be upheld.

I had a similar experience, bought a series 8 stainless watch- brand new, shipped/sold by Amazon. The watch arrived and had clear signs of being worn including light scratches on the sensor glass. Booted it up anyway and while it had been wiped the previous owner had enrolled it in the iOS beta program. I took it off and shipped it back for a refund. Ordered from target instead and got an actual brand new watch.

Did it have signs of being opened or did someone attempt to reseal it in a fake way?

This happens a lot. People will buy the real thing, put the fake in the box and return it. Happens at stores all the time too used to work at Best Buy and people did it daily with Beats and ps4 controllers. Most associates won't even bother to check and just accept it.

I had that happen with a Lowes purchase. Some parts were missing. Lowe's apologized and gave an immediate refund.
I didn't want to be accused of being the one that made the switch. Also, if you read the many Reddit threads on Amazon fake, damaged, or defective items, many state they returned the items to Amazon and didn't get the credit or have the item returned. One fellow had this happen on an $ 800 item. I am keeping this for evidence. This will be a long drawn out process.

I had the same thing happen. Luckily I just filed a return and dropped it off to Whole Foods. I knew there was a chance I'd be the one to take the blame, but rather than deal with dumb ass customer service, I took the risk.

I don't get it, why didn't you just return it?
Yes, but you didn't state when you originally made the purchase. I was assuming (based on the odds) it was a purchase with a normal return window.
