"There's not a big difference between sardines and herring. In fact, "sardine" means "small fish." (The fish in question were named after Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean, because they used to be plentiful in this region.) When they're young and small, these fish are called sardines. When they get older and bigger, they're called herring. For centuries, herring have been a dietary staple of northern Europeans ā€“ Scandinavians, Russians, Dutch, British and Germans."

Herring are mature sardines.
Ruined with soybean oil. I guess the mustard are it.

$6 over here. If these are close to sardines, that's a killer price.

Ingredients say Herring. Not sure how Herring is compared to Sardines.

Personally, I think they are way better than sardines. I love eating herring steak pieces straight out of the can. It's not dry and metallic like a lot of canned fish, it actually is the closest to a baked fish texture I've had in preserved fish. Definitely try it!

I accidentally unapplied the coupon on the last page of checkout, and when I reapplied it, the coupon applied twice! Just got a 12ct of the green chilies for $2.74!

From youtube it looks like they are sliced into "steaks" but have the soft bones that canned fish usually have

People in the US used to eat herring before tuna and sardines. Those were considered trash fish. Regardless, herring and sardines have the least amount of mercury in the seafood table.
