Time to suck up spiders around the house and then other small insects and watch the spiders feast.

This looks like a good gateway to tricking kids into vacuuming the house as well. Excellent!

Not without some justification. Turns out that there are consequences to all that single use, throwaway plastic. If you really want a straw, use something else. There's stainless steel, glass, cardboard, and even pasta. In short, it's not straws that are "contraband." It's the throwaway plastic ones--good riddance.

Turns out some communities and their contracted waste management partners decided that accepting #1 thru #7 plastics in their recycling programs was a better way than gatekeeping what kinds of straws people use. Unfortunately, it doesn't come with the official Karen Seal of Approval, but we're ok with that.

We teach our kids just to use a leaf and a clear Dixie cup

No batteries required

The tactile experience is a much better learning experience

It also teaches them prediction

The brain is basically a prediction machine

Just passing the responsibility of your bad choices onto someone else.

How does your final sentence in any way contribute to a meaningful dialogue?

One turtle and some kid's science fair project with made up data aren't justification to use worse alternatives.

In case it escaped your attention, our community recycles -- including plastic straws. But thank you for your concern, Karen.
