Upgrading to 11 for free was an option after reinstalling. So I reinstalled 10, then 11. Oddly enough, the process for both was actually smooth. Sadly, going to 11 from the broken 10 wasn't possible.

Then I bought the key from the Gamespot "deal" and it's junk as well.

Moot point, I got Windows activated another way. Let's just say...it was MAS effective than this method
