Better speakers, better keyboard in terms of backlit options, much bigger battery, updated AI chip, all metal built (vs LP5 as it has a plastic bottom), and actually a bit lighter too. But most importantly, a noticeably better and powerful processor (i9 vs i7).

Also, where do you see the difference being $300? The current LP5 deal (assuming you're referring to the intel version and not AMD, coz why would you even) is $200 less than this. If you combine new signup code, id.me and AMEX offers with this, you could actually bring it down near the LP5 price.

The weight of this is actually 5.5lbs or lighter, idk how that's heavy. It's lighter compared to most, if not all, other 16" gaming laptops.

6.17lbs lb. Charger plus cable probably another 1 lb.

My long reply got lost on the SD app while editing sigh. Will reply on my computer instead. In the meantime, let me at least say, keep the deals coming Dr. 👍

This is a 'desktop replacement' laptop that is vastly faster than your laptop. The 13900HX is essentially a desktop chip power limited for a laptop, it's 2.3X the multi-core performance of your 11850H.

Agreed. Yes, of course a 13th Gen i9 is much faster for intensive tasks than a 2 1/2 year old 11th Gen i7. To clarify, I was not comparing the performance, ONLY the weight.

I bought mine in August 2021; at the time mine it was good enough to be a desktop replacement laptop with an RTX 30xx series GPU; upgradable RAM to 64GB (mine has 32GB) and 2 SSD slots (one PCIe 4.0) - 11th gen was the latest at the time.

That said, my actual desktop is a Core i7 13th Gen with a 3070Ti (the GPU is overkill since I do NOT game on any of my PCs), but the price was great and it has been rock solid for reliability and I use it for remote work.
Considering potentially upgrading to 64GB, but hard to justify it when 32GB is more than enough currently even when multi tasking.

Also have 2 other laptops (one retired but still working but just older and one smaller [14"] Dell for more casual use and got it for an ultra portable option for day trips when not working).

Anyway, before I digress even more Smilie, my only point is / was the weight of this Legion Pro.
Mine also has a GPU and is fully upgradable, so I am just curious why this one weighs so much more.
I am sure there is a valid reason and I am genuinely curious why the majority of these "gaming laptops" often weigh so much (I believe Razer is one notable exception but they charge a premium over the competition).
Ironically I was not even looking for a new computer, but sometimes if I see a great deal, like this, I get the upgrade bug and I upgrade sooner than planned (even though frankly my current computers are more than I need for my use...).

Is the 13900HX a huge improvement over the 13900H in real world, design applications? I recently picked up the Asus M16 open box deal, and actually got it for $1200. That's the only difference between that machine and this one. I know benchmark wise the HX has a lot more going on under the hood.

Depends on the application/workload. If its 'single thread' bottlenecked like most games or MS Office or whatever then the performance is essentially the same, only +5% for the HX. If its highly threaded like video encoding workloads then the HX is +60% faster. A relatively easy way to tell if your workload could benefit from more cores/threads is to check the task manager and look at CPU utilization, if you hit around 90-100% at any point youll definitely benefit.

It's large file photoshop work, and complex illustrator vector graphics. I may venture into 3D, but it's not a big part of my workflow. Appreciate the thoughts on evaluating. I haven't had a chance to actually use it for work in the two weeks I've owned it.

I can't get it to stack coupons like the new customer code. Granted I don't have the Amex deal and am not a student or teacher.
