The easiest way is to activate the NEW phone by keeping your OLD phone number. That will transfer the remaining service from the old phone and add it to the service minutes on the new phone. This also deactivates the OLD phone.

Keep using the new phone for 60 days, then unlock it.

Reactivate your OLD phone by keeping your number. That will transfer the remaining service back to your original (old) phone, activate the old phone, and deactivate the new phone.

If you ever see a deal like the recent $20 flip phone deal where you don't care about the phone itself, only the service minutes, you can do the reactivate shuffle the next day.

this 2021 model is no longer supported even for security patch. Last Patch was June 2023

You can call up their customer service number and ask them to put the minutes on another phone. Prepare for an ordeal of gargantuan proportions, as they seem to deliberately try to sabotage this simple task, as if they get paid by the minutes they keep you on the line. Indian call center, of course, so you'll be hard pressed to understand a word they say.
Another way is to activate the new phone online, then switch your service back to your old phone.

I was able to transfer the remaining service minutes from an old spare phone that we did not need anymore, by doing an online chat. No problems, all went very smoothly, he just questioned me closely to make sure I understood that the old phone would be deactivated and I could no longer use it.

The service minutes, data, and days were all added to my current (activated) phone, in just a few minutes.

So you could get the new phone, activate it and toss it in a drawer for 60 days until you can unlock it, and then chat with customer service.

The good thing about online chat is that their bad accent doesn't come through. They also can't talk so fast that you can't understand them, because it's just text.

Damn, was hoping this was the 6GB 2023 model.
You want the Metro deal, $20 + $40 plan. Have to wait 180 days to unlock though. Read the massive wiki in any Metro post here first.

Using this phone for hotspot and WebDav server. Like it for this much better than Pixel 7 i used before. Has a good battery life and decent screen. Though a little too big.

Good phone, but I got it on a much better deal a few months ago for $40. Keep in mind that security updates have ended for this phone if that matters to you. I like Moto phones but their OS update policies are crap, close to worst in the industry frankly.

It's Pakisthani and Nepali call center. You might easily get confused because they all have similar accent. Even I saw some scams from Pakisthan for havac vent cleaning, car cleaning etc.
