The console versions already struggled a little with the honestly 7/10 graphics, and the less said about the PC port the better, so I'm honestly not sure if this is an enjoyable experience on the Switch

thanks! I was gifted a ps4 but I also love my switch. I don't HAVE to play it on the go. I'm just concerned with performance since I have read about poor performance on the switch from various outlets

This game is so over rated. I played it once and beat it, and never look back to play again. I prefer Bayonetta 1,2,3, over it. Never tired of playing Bayonetta over and over again.

As a fan of both series, Bayonetta is much more linear though as I was finishing up B3 the other day I thought it felt a lot like Automata. The combat is almost the same but a little sluggish on Bayonetta in comparison but perhaps that's the Switch…

It sounds like you missed 1/2 of the game if you didn't do multiple playthroughs. You don't end up playing the same game over though some parts are mostly the same - each (up to 5 IIRC) move to the next parts of the story. Would be worth doing a New Game +…

The general consensus on switch performance that I've seen is "it runs a lot better than you'd expect". Different people have different expectations though so ymmv. If the switch is the only way you can play this then I think it's worth getting at the price. The typical gameplay isn't anything special but there's nothing wrong with it imo. Every now and then the gameplay changes up entirely to keep it fresh. The OST and story are the real stars here. The music really sets the stage and does that dynamic thing where there's multiple layers in the tracks that will come and go depending on what's happening on screen. The story can be corny at times, but it really did make me start looking at the world a little differently. Moreso than most games, books, or movies typically do. It's a hard game to recommend to everybody but if you're looking for something kinda weird that'll make you think, this is a good pick.

Zelda fan here. Nier is one of best games ever made.
The story is spectacular - miles better than Mario Odessey (which hardly has any story) and even Zelda games (good story, but IMO nothing special).
Also, this game handles themes like consciousness, what it means to be human, and meaning of life. Zelda/Mario does not give much to think about.
Gameplay is as good as those titles.
So this game is THE game, Zelda/Mario are great but not even remotely close to Nier: automata's magic.

I liked Mario Odyssey, but this is an entirely different type of experience. The soundtrack, story, and environment draw you into it. If you like other games better than great, but personally I loved this game.
