Too bad I jumped on the Oneplus 12R deal that's still going at $440, with a snapdragon 2nd gen and 16 ram and 5500 mah battery, ridiculous.

no AI, no call screening, half the software support period, worse camera, etc with the 12R

Oneplus 12R looks like a trap phone, there's a reason there's an enticing pre-order offer with no YouTube reviews going on. Probably an embargo going on until they get as many blind buyers to purchase it.

Lots of phones are better buys than a base iPhone these days! Really even most midrange Android phones are perfectly fine these days for the average non power user, even heavy ones. Where iPhone really wins is just iMessages! Less of an obstacle these days with almost everyone having a phone, messaging unlimited, etc…but there's often still those few people who keep you captive to it…like maybe a few older family members with no smartphone and wifi iPad for example.
