Found the reason for the price variance. It is a 3rd party sold. Better not take chances, especially when these are available for a fraction of difference from authorized reseller.

I returned mine early for this reason. I had two that did this and occurred even after it was factory reset.

Were Apple and Samsung not collaborating on expanding the Find My network with the next gen smart tags or am I mixing my facts.

They're just teaming up to detect tankers that are being used to track people so they notify them regardless of brand. They're not making them compatible with each other.

The joys of competition in a nutshell. These companies collude on so much but can't bring themselves to throw their customers a bone like this.

Seeing lots of people talking about battery drain issues. Some are saying it goes through a battery in a day or two. Seems like they have some bugs to iron out, or maybe they have already fixed this issue. Just a heads up.

Can't speak to these, but I've had a different experience with my tiles. They work for its use for me. In high traffic areas, they are very accurate and detectable.

"Teaming up" meaning, they allow apps in each others' app store to detect nearby tags that might be following them without the persons knowledge.

Check out the battery. A dude on Reddit suggested that the residue from the pull tab adhesive wasn't allowing for proper contact to the battery. I tried wiping down the battery but didn't have any luck (others said they did), but I did get a brand name battery and it's been fine since.
