  • About this deal:
    • RTINGS gives the QN90C a score of 8.3 and QN85C a score of 8.1 (both for mixed usage).
    • RTINGS' comparison of these 2 models:
      • "The Samsung QN90C/QN90CD QLED is better than the Samsung QN85C QLED, but not by as much as you'd think. The QN90C gets much brighter than the QN85C in both SDR and HDR, but in practice, this isn't always noticeable, as most content just isn't mastered to take advantage of such high brightness levels. The QN90C's Automatic Brightness Limiter (ABL) also more aggressively dims the scene when it gets extremely bright, to a point where the two TVs are equally as bright in the brightest of scenes. The QN90C has better color volume and reflection handling than the QN85C."

With EDU account, price was showing at $2400 for 85" qn90c. But after chatting for a bit with CS, they offered 10% discount and samsung care+ for 2nd year warranty which is turning out to be alomost 20% off value ($240+$199). But later checked with a friend who has EPP account and he was able to place the order for about 30% off on the $2400 price. I need check if any AllState or some other provider to buy extended warranty.
Ok I was able to snag an epp account and a referral code and was able to get the QN90C 85 inch for $1,750.35 total with 2 years Samsung + Care. It took a little patience to get the customer service rep to give me coupon codes for a discount and Samsung care+. The referal code(5%) I received from Samsung on my EDU account.

If you are looking for an epp account, look at post 6 on the following page:

I have both 85" QN90A with Q900C (not Q990C cuz I don't need rear speakers) and 65" OLED

Samsung's pros:
  1. Much brighter tv. I have big bedroom & never need lights at night when tv is on. This is my light at night. lol
  2. Movie-theater-like picture quality (not "inky" like oled, maybe good or bad for you)
  3. Price to size ratio, at 2k, it's the good same price I paid 2 years ago as well.
Samsung's dislike:
  1. Whenever I play x1x, it'll go straight to game-mode, and audio turns to game-mode as well. But when after playing I switched to appleTV, sound mode has to be change/return to adaptive mode manually, otherwise it'll stay on game-mode audio forever. It's annoying.
  2. No DV, only HDR. for me this is a big loss.
Oled's pros:
  1. It's inky. Colors pops more. Similar to demo clips in stores. (mine is calibrated). To the point where things don't look movie-like anymore.
Oled's dislikes:
  1. LG is stingy at matching the software with the latest model eventhough almost every yearly model is capable for the latest software version.
  2. It's darker in DV & HDR

Tips:
I have AppleTV 4k..but when watching Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Disney or Youtube... after thousand hours of observations, the built-in apps in the TV are way better at presenting the picture quality versus playing them thru AppleTV. Playing thru AppleTV looks softer and less colorful. So I suggest take advantage of the built in Samsung apps instead. They're better.

My next tv gonna be the 100" that seems to be the standard now. lol

Samsung customer service is atrocious.

I was just speaking with them about an ongoing issue and they told me to reach out when order support is open. She said their hours are 9am to 6pm.

I asked which time zone and she said "either eastern or central, both should work."

So I asked "so I can call at 8am central?" To which she replied, "maybe call at 830am."

Nothing surprises me with them anymore.

After dealing with their customer service a few times, I'd much rather get all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out without anesthesia than have to deal with them again.

No go for me. Lowest I can get with tax is about $2200 with free shipping and free 2 year care. Can't find additional 5% off on my credit cards. Guess I'll have to wait for the inventory clearance deals in March

Yes, I remember that....and it was the QN85C that was $1,000 from Sam's, not the QN90C.

Same thing happen to me when I tried to get my tv fix. I work 5 days a week and they told me to call at the time you stated. I live in central time. I call then they told me it was eastern time. They have the worse customer service by far.

Yes, sometimes you have to ask for a supervisor to get the percentage off.
