Yea it's a good deal but 8A is around the corner so you'd be gambling on doing this now vs. then with potential elevated trade ins and pre order bonuses.

I'd probably hold out the next 2-3 months if your 6A is still in good condition.

Also trade ins for older pixel A's are currently boosted (ex. 6a = $200).

AND if you have Capital One cc you can get 4% back when clicking on their link and then purchasing

For some reason I'm not seeing the Pixel 6A on the trade in list.

Damn, just got an amazon refurbed 7a for $240 ("acceptable condition"). My current Pixel 5 has a line of dead pixel, so its trade-in value is just $60, so that'd be $314 for a new 7a. Think I'll keep my refurbed, any expert thoughts by any chance?

True. Got to add the extra $175 you are spending today to that trade to keep it level but if the update isn't all that this could end up being the better deal.
For the 8a trade in for the 6a vs the 7a will likely be the same or $25 difference.

If you have a 6a getting trade in for what you paid and more than you could sell it for is compelling but you could wait and get the same later. For this deal you have to add $175 - you can wait and use the money for the 8a.

8a likely will be a higher price, won't have -125 off but trades may be higher? 7a price/value will drop. It's all a bet to what will be a better deal, but IMHO better to wait for the new tech - even if you end up paying a little more. Jump a model for the upgrade will always be better. Already skipped 7a when it came out - now why buy late in the product cycle. Wait for the 8a.

Best Buy has also matched the $374 price for all colors if you select the "Connect this phone to any carrier later" option:

8a will get more Android updates than 7a - but may not be a factor if your MO is to trade up near end of (update) life

I recently got a 7a for $350 from Target... I'm not necessarily interested in 8 or 8p, since 7a is my secondary phone (primary is a 14 Pro Max); but I'd love it if the price drops further until the end of my return date (March 3rd). Do "a" series Pixel phones drop significantly in price once the next version (i.e., 8a) is released?

Could always trade in the 7a, if it turns out the 8a is compelling...
The 7a was a huge improvement over the 6a, adding wireless charging, a 90Hz screen, and improved cameras. The 8a will likely be iterative, maybe just switching to the newer Tensor and tweaking the physical design.

BestBuy is showing only $70 trade-in for a 6a. Any chance they will match the $200 that Google is offering if I go into the store and ask?

They are still taking in trade ins for the 3a so the 6A will be safe. Only question is will it be more/less than $200. I was given $300 for my 3A when the 6A dropped so you just never know what Google is gonna put out there.
I'm of the opinion that Google needs to simplify their phone releases and DECREASE, not increase their sale prices. Hell, consider a subscription model that comes with Google One, YouTube Premium, and/or YouTube TV to offset the overall cost of building these money pits. Most Pixels are "free" with subscription through Google Fi service. The A-series should come out earlier in time for Grad-Dad gifts and the Pro series obviously needs to be in wide supply for the Christmas holiday season. I think they should drop the regular Pixel model and rebrand the A-series as the "regular" Pixel. The Google Watches should come free with a phone if you buy full-price through the Google Store. These exclusive colors don't strike me as "moving the needle".
My reasons for these thoughts are the phone values just don't hold up and its crazy to think people pay full price on Day 1. I traded in a P6a for $220 (now down to $200) and a 64GB P3 for $150 (now down to $120) during the December Google Store sale with discount codes. I bought two brand new Pixel 8 256GB for ~$400 each and they're probably only going to be worth $250 on trade-in as of this autumn 2024.
I just don't see how Google is going to turn this business model around until they make a phone that is as reliable, usable (boomer friendly), and most importantly POPULAR as the iPhone. Sad! Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

The current 3a trade value is $120. That's a far cry from the prior $300 deal, but still better than the $30 it is at normally.

How is this a deal? The 7 Pro was literally about half this amount through Mint right before Christmas and that included a year of wireless service.
