Check out the specs that its compatible with on the back. I didnt realize it was toyota WS compatible until today so this is a huge savings. Plenty of toyota specific forums report using this with no issues. Some say its even better than OEM spec since its synthetic

I've heard the same thing. I have 250,000 miles using Honda ATF on my civic beater so don't think I'll risk it now.
Same. My 2002 CRV beater has 230K. I use type H IDEMITSU off Amazon and it saves a little money as they are the OEM ATF manufacturer.

Are all cvt's sealed with no dipstick and "lifetime" filters?
Definitely not. Lifetime fluid is kind of a myth. For example, my 2016 Civic requires a cvt fluid drain and fill every 25K which is more frequent than a traditional trans.

Honda ATF oil is made by IDEMITSU.

I used Valvoline ATF oil for my Sequoia 02 with over 250K .

Got this a couple of weeks back for $25 so this is a good deal. Thanks OP! Make sure your car's tranny is in the description, otherwise, this maybe not be the right ATF.

Great ATF for almost all Toyota and Lexus transmissions that take type IV or WS fluid. I have had very good experiences with it in multiple vehicles and this is a very good price so I am stocking up.

This is great fluid. I used it in my ram rebel ZF 8 speed transmission for the longest time. No issues at all.

Do yourself a favor and do some research before blindly buying something like this. Oil is oil, but ATF fluid tends to be very specific. I believe that this fluid is excellent... but DYOR for your vehicle.
I agree mostly, especially if you're unfortunate enough to own a Chrysler product, but this does work for many many vehicles. 30 seconds on google can tell you if it's suitable for your vehicle.

On my car I can use it for both the transmission and as power steering fluid.

That's just the maintenance schedule listed in the manual… I think CVTs were new with the 10th gen and I'm guessing they improved things because it's 90k on newer models with a similar cvt.

1qt bottles were on clearance at Tractor Supply about a month ago for $1-2. I did in store pickup and didn't notice until I got home but they gave me synthetic 5w20 oil instead. Oh well. While in store for the pickup I went to the shelf to actually buy more but they were already out so probably why I got the oil. It may be mentioned in this thread already but Valvoline also sells a universal CVT fluid in a blue jug that covers others CVT transmissions that this universal fluid does not. It retails in the $40 and up range and is reasonable priced directly from the official shop Valvoline web site.

You put non-Honda atf in your CRV? I use this oil and it's great but I've always heard that you really can't get away with anything but Honda OEM atf fluid.
I know from experience that this is an issue. I switched my old civic to non-OEM stuff and it shuddererd and slipped HARD. I immediately switched back to OEM and it ran normal. It was the wildest week

I've done 5-6 changes with this fluid on a 2013 Honda Odyssey without problems. It's very popular on the forums.

There are certainly more ATF alternatives than MaxLife to OEM fluids these days, but in regards to the Valvoline MaxLife, I have had good success even when the forums would say anything other than OEM would grenade the transmission. In my family's fleet I have Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Nissan vehicles and the MaxLife has proven reliable over a combined 300,000 miles across all these vehicles. Many of these use ATF in the Power Steering (some however have a specialty power steering fluid - Honda) as well so It is nice to have only one transmission fluid in the garage.

The price of MaxLife Transmission fluid has increased quite a bit over the last few years, when it stuck around $17/gallon for many years. I have begun to consider other alternatives to MaxLife at the new regular price of $27-$30/gallon but $22 is a good price, I bought a dozen.
