SD, where "No wide sizes" is the new "No HDMI"

FWIW, Altra are all pretty inherently wide, especially in the toebox. But if you're looking for wider midfoot, they're closer to standard. I'm in between (D/E) and find most shoes pretty constrictive, so Altra are my main brand now for any running or longer walking.

Some great deals if they have your size. The Altra Lone Peak 7 for $70 is slick. Free returns as well. Unfortunately I don't see a single size wide shoe on the site.

Yes, I've used Altras for years because of their wide toe box. However, I tried the Lone Peak 7s and they are narrower in the toe box than previous versions. Just FYI. Still a good deal.

I agree with that — I've had 4, 5, and now 7. I love the 7 but they're definitely a wee bit narrower and the materials just feel cheaper over the years (like almost everything…). Hard to quantify without pics. They still work great.

Anyone know how the Lone Peak fit in comparison to the Provision 6 or 7. I never tried these on at the store because the salesman commented I'd be swimming in them. I have flat feet and a narrow heal but have gone Altra for over a year now.

I absolutely LOVE the large toe box that Altra provides! I have a pair of Lone Peak 7 and they're easily my favorite shoes.

I snagged a pair of Paradigm 6 - even though I really didn't need them. Smilie

Thanks OP!

The Lone Peak is Altra's prototypical "Original Fit" shoe with a wide toe box. The Provision is the narrowest of Altra's "Standard Fit" shoes, which are narrower in the heel and forefoot.

I agree but I wear zero incline shoes in my day to day life (birkenstock, olukai). I want the same when I'm on the trail. Like forest gump says "mama said these are my magic shoes". I'll take goofy over hurt feet anytime.

They only look goofy because we're all so conditioned to seeing narrow, non-footshaped shoes

These are high quality shoes - for beginners, know that this is a reputable brand and a good price.

For those who have already had a quality Saucony, Brooks, Hoka, etc, please note that these shoes are very different and you may or may not like the difference. They're zero drop shoes. They're marketed as a kind of in between shoe from traditional running shoes with a drop and on the other end of the spectrum, barefoot shoes.

I have too many shoes, but I'm not a sneakerhead…I just keep them a long time. I always prefer shoes from companies that focus on the shoes, not crazy amounts of fashion, advertising, or sponsorships. Altra is like that. You'll rarely see them outside of a running or trail event. Nobody really wears them for trendiness like Hoka or On'. (I think that apostrophe is mandatory)

These are a little weirdly "aggressive" for a street shoe, in addition to the fact that the lugs will wear down to nothing quickly on pavement.

Mine are purple and orange. It helps me remember to stick to trails Smilie
