Never have done a home depot price hack. Do I even need to pick up the battery? Or can I just let them cancel the pick up and refund the payment?

Set the battery to be shipped. M12 for pickup. Then within 15 minutes. Cancel the battery and put reason that you picked the wrong option. Then get the jigsaw at pick up

How does this compare performance wise to the m18 version or the dewalt highly rated jigsaw? Worth getting if I already have both the others?

This jigsaw doesn't have a trigger. Just FYI

I was super excited about dust blowing feature, but no trigger...

Of COURSE it's worth it, man. America was built on ridiculous excess and unnecessary acquisition of things. Do your part to keep the legacy alive! 🇺🇸

HD doesn't allow to split pickup and delivery anymore. You can still pick up at different physical stores. At least my experience yesterday with the Dewalt deal.

I was looking for this 2 weeks ago. Ended up with the Ryobi version, worked out as I needed the overhand grip instead of this one

This is pretty reasonable for an apparently so far well-liked, and recently released jigsaw. Yes you can get cheaper jigsaws, but they don't all compare in the sum of their ergonomics, noise, capabilities, features, etc. I think this is the first time these have been available with any sort of discount.

Even keeping the 2.5AH HO battery ~$169 for this pair seems like a decent first offering of sorts. Those the 2.5/5.0 HO batteries (and 6.0) are the most ideal for the whole M12 Fuel lineup, esp. for higher demand tools like this and the right angle die grinder, circular saw, etc.

These apparently cut really well - rigid/good tolerances, and the orbital cutting action. I'd love to have one over my incredibly loud Ryobi plug-in I got for like <$15. Gotta compare their stroke length and things like whether they have orbital cutting action for extra cutting power. These do, but as someone else has said already - these use a thumb switch and not a trigger.

The no trigger is a pain to use, it might also be a safety concern. I have a dewalt with barrel grip that has a on and off switch and no trigger, and I have only used it once and never gone back to it again. There are some fixtures that you can mount and use the jig saw upside down like a band saw maybe that's a good use for it as you only need on off for that.

Because OP forgot to explain. You have to return the 'free bonus item' to get the stated price - a deal where the effective discount is proportionally distributed between [M12 Jigsaw] and [2.5 HO battery] and you can return one or the other for a refund of the itemized amount+tax shown on the receipt.

If you have or have used the highly rated classic corded Bosch barrel jigsaw, then this will.be familiar as its basically the same design, also no trigger. Does have an on/off switch and variable speed. Trigger unnecessary.

Technically ANY power tool could be a safety concern in the wrong hands. I see it this way if it makes you uncomfortable then get something else that works better. I have M18 but sometimes in cabinets and tight spaces I wish I had something thinner and smaller to fit and make corners without being limited by size as much. On the other hand if you never encountered such situation odds are you're better off with "traditional" handle style one.

Well have a common methodology of use in all tools is what I am talking about in safety, imagine having the tool constantly running even if you let it go. Now imagine a chain saw or a drill or a jigsaw you see where I am going.
Technically anything is a safety concern in some way by your logic including walking.
