So, the Rtings review on the U8K doesn't exactly apply. They tested the 65" which is a VA panel, but the 75" is the only one in the lineup using a different panel type. So none of the measurements actually apply to the 75"...

"The 75-inch model uses an ADS Pro panel, so it performs a bit differently than the other sizes, as it has worse contrast and black uniformity, different reflection handling due to its glossy screen coating, and a wider viewing angle."

$650 is generally the standard discount price on the 55". It sometimes hits $600 but it's a game of is $50 less worth waiting to see if it does. I don't think the previous model (u8h) went to $600 with the current economy. I think the $600 price was at Nebraska Furniture or similar that only services a limited portion of slickdeals users. A search of slickdeals can confirm. If you want it why wait for another 8% off? Also you may be gambling on a good retailer for it. I personally prefer picking up from best buy vs shipping from Amazon on big items like a tv.

I'm in the same boat... U7 from Costco with 3yr warranty for $900 or this and an additional $150 or whatever for the warranty.... The U8 looks awesome at Best Buy but I've never been able to see the U7 to compare.

I just got the U8K at Best Buy last week. Time for my price match! I was debating returning it to get the s90C. This extra $150 off though solidifies it for me. I have to make sure they price match the warranty though as well.

Bought the 75" for $1600 last year and didn't regret. I started to love watching TV again since I got it. Very good picture quality. Black levels are on par with OLED TV. 75" version for $1100 is a no brainer buy first ask questions later.

I pulled the trigger on the U8K. Slightly better panel but what really got me is it's brighter and my TV is in a bright room.

Appreciate the insight. I was waiting for some sort of deal on the Sony x93l, but at half the price of the current 'sale' price I pulled the trigger on the U8K
