So, the Rtings review on the U8K doesn't exactly apply. They tested the 65" which is a VA panel, but the 75" is the only one in the lineup using a different panel type. So none of the measurements actually apply to the 75"...

"The 75-inch model uses an ADS Pro panel, so it performs a bit differently than the other sizes, as it has worse contrast and black uniformity, different reflection handling due to its glossy screen coating, and a wider viewing angle."
https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/hisense/u8-u8k

I haven't seen any of this line up in person, but that's giving me some pause.

U8h is not the u8k.

Been waiting on the 100" U8K to become available again at BB. No luck for the past couple weeks.

Last week I bought the 65" U8k from Walmart. Total for TV, 5 year warranty and installation was $1,190. (TN sales tax is a brutal 9.25%) It was installed Sunday and it looks incredible! HOWEVER, I'm not a fan of Google TV.

So far, it's been very frustrating. The remote is terrible, there's no numbers on it, and the keys are hypersensitive. The OS has a long delay between when you press the button and when the keyboard actually pops up. It keeps randomly launching the screensaver while I'm watching something. It's not paused, I'll be watching a YouTube video and the next thing I know, I'm looking at photos of murals/graffiti.

I upgraded from a 49" LG LED tv that I had an Apple TV hooked up to. I'm going back to the Apple TV and it's remote. It has the same apps that the new TV does and it isn't buggy.

Got the u8k 65" for $960 total during black Friday and have some regrets. There is heavy clouding unless I have it set to vivid setting exclusively, a lot of the game settings requires manual set up that wasn't intuitive, the TV sets the volume down to 10 daily because I use shelf speakers through headphone jack, and now randomly whenever I select my fire stick channel, it decides to turn on my PS5 and switch to that channel instead.

Tldr, Lot of finicky issues so I would have felt more comfortable spending about 300 less than this.

I think I'm going U7K after reading the rtings comparision and mine will be in a darker room. The U8K is definitely badass but a $400+ gamble for me by the time I add in a warranty on it. We'll see how it goes... gotta be better than the V series Vizio I'm using now... after my experience with that TV I'm afraid to buy another one from anywhere but Costco.. the extended warranty saved me on that one...
I just warrantied a U7K for a patch of dim Mini LEDs. Others on Reddit reported similar issues. Just FYI...

Ok thanks. How did the warranty process go? I've had solid success with Costco so hopefully if I have any issues they'll remedy it somewhat easily... Seems like no matter what brand or model you buy they all seem to have an elevated risk of issues anymore...

Hisense did a decent job handling the situation. The sad part was that they sent out a technician to destroy the television ... Like, use a box cutter on the screen, then open it up and remove a critical component. Left it up to me to take it to an electronics recycling. They're sending a check for the amount paid instead of replacing the unit.

Hope that helps!

Wow... I had a dark spot develop on my Vizio and they just asked for pics. Refunded the money within a week or two. I kept the TV and still use it in a guest room. Man, the fact that he left you to dispose of it is ridiculous....

Yeah, it was a little weird. Glad I saved the original box, it made transportation to the facility easier. Fwiw, others on Reddit reported the exact same thing with their panels.

I got the U75K from Costco and I swear it looks like a UFO landed in my living room from the next room over. The first time I walked out of the room and was walking back in I couldn't believe how bright it was.

U8K is obviously the higher end model, but the U7K is insanely bright itself and great viewing angles on the 75" as well with the IPS panel.
Have you watched any scenes with subtitles? I'm buying either the u7k or u8k 75" for the IPS panel for the viewing angles. The local dimming on u8k is much better, but I'm trying to see if it's worth the cost difference. We watch a lot of subtitled content.

I was debating getting this TV but I saw there are only two HDMI 2.1 inputs. Also one of those inputs is for earc so you literally only have 1 HDMI 2.1 input if you connect a sound bar to the earc port. I understand it's a budget tv but I'm going to wait for 4 full HDMI 2.1 ports if possible

Off-angle viewing is one of my biggest hesitations with upgrading size from an OLED. How would you rate it?
I don't know about the 75" with the different panel but off angle viewing on the 55" was so bad that's what made me return it. I ran undeadpixel just to cycle through the different solid colors on screen (yellow, red, green, blue, white, black) and standing off to the side you could only make out 2 colors and black, the other colors just looked white.
