It's a good deal right now today, but the 4080 "Super" releasing $200 cheaper is going to keep putting pressure on the XTX, and by extension the XT. I'd be surprised if we don't see better deals over the next several months.

If you're looking at rasterized 4K performance, the 4080 Super is beating the 7900 XT by 15-20% and costs $1000 vs $700 (~40% more). If you factor in the extra price you pay for nVidia's power efficiency, ray tracing, and software support, then it makes a $700 price tag on the 7900 XT kind of reasonable in comparison.

Honestly, I think this price point is kind of weird. This is a ton of money to spend on a graphics card and I imagine that many people who are willing to spend $700 are willing to spend $900-1000 for that extra performance. Anyone (like me) who is willing to settle for QHD instead of 4K will spend $300-400 instead.

It's between the 4070Ti and 4080 in raster performance. In RT the 4070Ti is ~20% faster. Does have 20GB VRAM though vs 4070Ti's 12GB which should be good if you game at higher resolutions, where the 7900's advantage over the 4070Ti is wider.

Thanks a lot bud.
I have an LG C1 48" as my monitor. It's 4k OLED with AMD free sync.
Right now I'm using Vega 56 which is old.
Do u think this would be good for 4k?

While it represents a great new FPS per dollar in today's market, I'm not sure $699 = slick deal...? 🤔

I think they are all headed that direction to compete better with nvidia's latest "super" releases.

Yeah for this price it would be the card to get at 4k unless you mostly play games with RT

You will be surprised. I think $700 is the bottom floor, maybe 670-80 in a really rare sale but no more. These need to be profitable and the next gen is around the corner. The only way to seeing them get cheaper is clearance after next gen launch.

I don't intent to play in 4k. I have a qhd monitor, is the 7900xt overkill?
My other option is 7800xt. I would have jumped on 4070super if they had 16gb VRAM. I only game. Should I still get the 7900xt or 7800xt
7900 xt probably overkill as it hits that unusual in-between spot for 1440 and 4k but will give you more leeway for future games. 7800 xt will cover pretty much everything out currently

My 3080 was the first Nvidia card I have ever owned in like 20 years of PC gaming. Have always gamed on AMD (and ATI) cards going all the way back to the early 2000's and have never experienced any significant driver issues.
