i have this laptop, i got it for lightwork and travel, i already have a really beefy tower so my main concern was weight and battery life, this one is miles ahead of the competition in those 2 categories. i heavily considered the 14inch model since it's like almost a pound lighter but i opted for the bigger screen since i don't like straining my eyes. it works great as a browser machine, no regrets.

I have 16G and upgraded to 24G, it's not enough, when i opened few youtube videos at the same time.
Extension to force h.264 mp4 mode rather than silly cpu hogging av1, then intelligently setting each video to 720p instead of auto.

I personally do not like having mismatched memory installed. If you're upgrading from 16GB, at least double it to 32. For some reason the mismatch in memory isn't as smooth as it should be. Hell, you might be better off just staying at 16GB.

As for the LG, I bought a Gram a few years ago and hate to report that my micro SD card stopped working all of the sudden. I believe it could be driver related, but LG's support isn't that great.

Boot it to Linux via USB and see if it works. That should tell you if it's the hardware or software.

I remember hearing about bit mining code hidden in YouTube adds back in the day , I think this homie just likes the sound of 10 songs blended at once with a YouTube plus ad mixed in there somewhere

Google says RAM not upgradable
When you see LPDDR anything it's always non-upgradable.

I was deciding between this and an Asus Vivobook S 16".

I ended up going with the Asus because the LG Gram is made of magnesium which is less dense than aluminum (Vivobook). I've heard people mention the LG Gram has a decent amount of flex to it.

The Vivobook is heavier, but I expect the heavier more rigid feel will make it seem like a premium product. Others have noted the hinges and/or hinge screws are less durable on the LG Gram.

This is all subjective as I don't actually have experience with either, I get my Vivobook delivered today, but hoping I made the right call.

The main advantage of the gram in the weight for the size. Usually 16/17 inch laptops would be desktop replacement and not somthing some one would like to carry around.

This has an IPS screen vs AMOLED on the Asus.
Asus as the H series i7 vs the P series on this one.
RAM not upgradable in both.

This has 2 usb A ports vs 1 on the asus.
I have multiple 17-in LG Gram laptops in my home and in the office where I recommended them for employees. Ram and SSDs are upgradable unless there's something new about this model. Yes, it has two slots for NVMe discs

I think this one has to touch screen, but the Amazon one doesn't.

Really good laptop. Super light. Lighter than even my 14" Lenovo. Nice display. The only thing I hate about it is the full size keyboard (makes typing on it awkward), and the speakers.

These are very nice laptops for portability, I picked up one with the RTX 3050 GPU (which I highly recommend if you plan on doing any form of visual editing or light gaming). The pre-installed software isn't horrible, but it's not very well optimized; after removing a fair amount of the pre-installed software, performance improved noticeably.

That sucks. What does it run like with just the 16GB? I've seen people try to put 8+4 and it runs ok until it crashes because the two memory cards are rated at different frequencies.
