Don't worry. SD staff will have thoroughly vetted that site for safety.

J/k laugh out loud

Btw, I'm seeing $114 now.

Is there a firmware update for this? I've heard there have been issues with the InnoGrit IG5236 controller.

Not last I've heard, and I currently have the 4TB version in my gaming machine, feels a bit stressful everyday, but **knock on wood** it's been good so far. I really wish I would have jumped on the 4tb 990pro but I didn't read about this drives controller until the prices shot up.

That's why its so cheap. Nextorage Phison E18 drives $20 more no problems with those.

I got the 4tb version last May. I put a couple VR games on it. When running the game, the drive would stop being recognized. I exchanged it. The new drive did the same thing. I just put some videos on it. As long as I dont access it for a long amount of time, it works.
I just figured my new laptop wasnt compatable

My computer is slow to start programs sometimes, and other times things load lightning fast. I built a new computer and put this drive in it so I don't have comparison to another drive, but I've been feeling it's probably this drive. The computer itself is top specced parts, so the drive is the only culprit really.

Sounds like an airflow issue

2TB fills up so fast. Especially now with 8k video capable phones and action cams. Now i need 4TB.
Last 300gb give my 2tb kington fury the equivalent of writing with floppy drive bandwidth. I'm interested in a 4tb media drive, but price gouging by mfg and retail ended that idea. Let consumers sit on their wallets 6 months and lets see if big tech reaches new record highs..

Possibly, but the controller on these drives have been flaking out, so it's hard to say.

Nah it's just this drive and other cheapo ones use Innogrit IG5236 controller and it's a piece of garbage. Avoid any drive using it regardless of price/deal.
