Another day of wondering why I don't just move in behind a Microcenter

My employer hands these things out for video conferencing. The audio is garbage even for just voice. The Cisco voip phone little single 2" audio speaker is better for audio (when the conference has dial-in audio.)

Gotta check for walkable to Microcenter score next time you move. Supposedly increases the rent price.

I bought these off Amazon for like $15. They aren't worth $2. It cracks constantly when people are talking. I don't even want to donate them because I can't think of a use case where these would make sense and I don't want someone to waste their money on this trash like I did.

Agreed. It's 2 bucks sure but I'd consider it ewaste at this point.

I strongly recommend 3.5mm speakers like these. I've tried 20 or so brands and types and the USB only ones are controlled by the digital output and are not adjustable via dial.
USB ones can (and do) have a 200% volume difference between 7 and 8 on a scale of 0-100.
Maybe not these, but a decent ($30) set gives you easy adjustable sound in any environment without having to find hotkeys or go to the desktop.

These look like the no name brand I have sitting in front of me at work. The audio quality is terrible but they get the job done if you need to listen to a video or voicemail.

Don't even try playing music on these unless you're okay with the audio sounding like an old LP

I wonder if you are connecting to a hub or directly to the laptop?

I have a Logitech USB headset and unless I plug it directly into the laptop then it will give me issues. I think you are experiencing a power issue.

I feel like these speakers have been around for over 15 years. I had a set back in like 2006 and they were crap. They even make a 2.1 set with a "subwoofer" but when the subwoofer is a whopping 2" and the whole set uses a max of 5 watts, you really can't expect much.

Edit, actually that set has a 3" sub and uses 8W. [squarespace.com]
