Picked up 4 of these when they hit $90 a month or 2 ago. Did extensive testing before deploying in a 24/7 RAID and have been monitoring them since with zero issues. They were a bargain at that price, and I'm glad to pick up one as a cold spare at this new price.

Great price, especially for cold storage. I don't trust Seagate with my homelab but I'll gladly put data on em for safe keeping

How many years of 24/7 service can I reasonably expect to get from these if I buy 4?

2018 model. These will definitely have 5+ years powered on. Pass.

Ultrastar HC550 (2020) and HC560 (2021) drives are worthwhile. The HC570s are too new and they dont have refurbs yet.

no one really knows unless he/she has a crystal ball.
buy 4, use 2 at a time, keep the other two as cold backup. then you can expect anywhere from a few months to maybe 10 years of service.

That's largely dependent on what you plan on doing with them.

Are you going to write multiple TB a day?
