For some, it's the 12th Gen processor, for some it's the DDR4 instead of DDR5, for some it's the build quality, and for some it's "just" 300-nits or FHD display.
But a few things that are more if facts; there's no real life difference between DDR4 and DDR5, so either of those suffice just fine. The build quality is indeed a bit questionable but you'd be hard pressed to find a better 4070 deal with good display. The display is good, not great yes, but 100% sRGB and 300-nits is totally acceptable given the price point and the accompanying GPU.
The processor is indeed two generations old but it's no slouch at all. 13th Gen would've been better, but again, it wouldn't be 999 then.
So again, opinions vary. This has been available at BB numerous of times at the given price. You can search it up on SD to have an idea.
So, definitely worth posting.
Even at $20 more there aren't many alternatives out there.

Most people use their phones at 100% brightness, and seems the same for laptops. It bothers my eyes

I agree. This is worth posting because if you sign up and use a Micro Center credit card, you knock another 10% off this laptop making it $900 total before taxes.
We're both saying the same thing; that this is worth posting.

Some may argue against this unit - nits, FHD, DDR4, 720p cam, etc. - but I'd suggest this is the price floor (for now) for a reasonable quality build that has a 4070 and can run at its full-power rated speed. Install 32 GB of RAM and an additional 2 TB SSD and it'll be good for 3 years or so.
One item I did find while researching is it appears the primary m.2 is Gen4 while the secondary is Gen3. Not a big deal for me, save a few bucks on a game storage drive.
