Old vizio used to be good but their firmware updates are downright horrendous. Just look on reddit and google and you'll see.

If I was going for a budget brand I'd go for TCL or Hisense

My last Vizio bricked at 2 years. Their software is notoriously bad and it conveniently died after an OTA update…never again

6.9 on rtings - https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews...eries-2021

Seems like a good price for a 65 inch with realistic expectations. Many of the bad reviews appear to be related to shipping damage

If it's the updates that are causing the issues, presumably b/c the basic hardware that was the cheapest available at production can't handle anything newer, wouldn't leaving it offline and using a streaming box solve this? I run Apple TVs on all my screens anyway.

I have a 8 or 9 year old Samsung 1080p 55" in my garage, and I'm tempted to upgrade it. But it's lasted me a long time, and shows no sines of slowing down. So I'd hate to let it go for something that's going to crap out in a couple years.
Yeah but then they can't track and sell your data. That's another reason why their costs are lower.

I have a 50" Vizio that has been a great value. I'm in the market to replace it, with a 65", but I just cannot buy another Vizio. After the forced software updates - dealing with WatchFree+ is really aggravating when you just want to quickly access your OTA channels. Yes, you can work around it by taking the TV offline, but what a pain.

My 2020 65" TCL just had the LEDs die on me. Kinda dumb these models are giving you a 5 year life expectancy now, and I hate contributing to Ewaste.

I thought Vizio was a hot brand. But Walmart reviews are not good, and many comments here not good either.

I've had this model Vizio for a few years now and it's gotten down right awful.. The firmware for it is extremely slow and old and often crashes or fails to stream content. The wifi card on it is also very bad, with limited bandwidth capabilities. Ethernet is way better, but doesn't make up for the firmware issues. The single dimming zone is pretty terrible too. Super recommend NOT buying this TV..

I had a 2006 Vizeo plasma that lasted 15 years. My last 3 Vizeos all died in less than a year. Between that and the fact they co-opted Android TV and hand pick what apps you can install I made the switch to TCL and ROKU and never looked back.

My 58" Vizio will never see wifi. You can update the firmware via USB, which we did once to get it post-a-release-issue and it's been fine ever since. One glimpse at how monetized your viewing is will make you never want to let your TV connect to wifi. The Ts and Cs on Vizio were stupidly-invasive. I'm in the tinfoil hat club when it comes to media platforms, but for good reason..and that's before the firmware reasons were brought up. Smilie

Also, microcenter has some nice Vizios refurbished at 50-70% of the price and (when cheaply bought) twice the warranty.

Everyone's complaining how they have some dying at the 2 year mark, att this price that's probably par for the course. Secondly, you can always buy the Allstate plan for $50 and have 5 years of coverage (have had great success with replacing robot vacuums with them).
You're mad if you think $350 (or $530) is an acceptable amount of money to spend for a tv that lasts 2 years before dying.

$45 extra bucks with Walmart gets you full replacement if this fails within 4 years for manufacturing faults.

Maybe I just got shit luck, but I bought two Hisense TV's two years ago, both decided to light on fire and start smoking(one in my house, one in my sister's a couple months after), one after another, TCL has been solid in my experience though, have one going on 5+ years now, really decent picture for a budget TV tbh...I'll never touch Hisense again, smelt horrible(but guess that's just how burning tvs smell 😅).

Had Vizio for my last two tv's for the past six years. Great budget brand. Never had an issue except for an occasional disconnect due to their cheap wifi cards. Switching to Ethernet was a simple fix for me.
i use them
as monitors never hook mines to the internet, I use the HDMI port to input from my desktop HDMI outpu,t my "smart "TVs last for years, never used built in apps
