Would be better if I didn't have to buy a drink but better than nothing, I suppose.

The more of these gimmicky BOGO deals I see the more I think a lot of these fast food chains are struggling to get folks in the door. Lunch is now $15 to $20 at most places and I think a lot of folks are just deciding that they might as well go to a Chili's type store and pay the same price for better food and service.

Min price of a drink is $3 here and base price of an entree went from $8.80 to $10.95. Screw that. No deal.

Yep, everyone followed Chipotle's lead.
I went for their free Queso deal last week and with a small soda and off the menu burrito, it was $18 with free queso.
No wonder the place was empty.

The impact of forcing minimum wage to go up.

Yup, it's going to be a bloodbath when the massive layoffs hit sometime this year. These huge increases in prices will result in far fewer folks eating out and when the deep recession hits it will be the death knell for many restaurants.

McDonalds already had corporate layoffs last year. In fact, despite revenue going up this past quarter, they noted that orders are getting smaller because of the menu price increases.

"We certainly know consumers are more wary or weary of pricing," CFO Ian Borden told investors at the company's earnings call on Monday. CEO Chris Kempczinski said that diners had been placing smaller orders, especially low-income customers.

Just had this for lunch today, BOGO. We always get water, so yeah buying a drink sucks but it was $15.XX for a burrito and bowl (Chicken).

Polaris Parkway, Columbus, Ohio. We eat there at least once or twice a month, never had a bad meal. Chipotle on the other hand...

Qdoba > Chipotle x 1000.

Would have been $17.XX for those two entrees pre-covid. So essentially you are getting $2 off regular old price.

Would it work to order for later like Saturday and still have the promotion actually work if I placed the order today? I have plans already for Valentine's Day.

This phenomenon is simple price gouging and has nothing at all to do with minimum wage increases.

Stop punching down.

Thank you to the OP for pointing this one out. I did use it. Got a burrito and a loaded soup, both brisket, $12.25 each. Since I had to buy a drink, which I never do, and the drink would have been $3+, I went ahead and added the drink/chips/queso offered for $4.35. Brought my bill to $16.60 plus I added a $2 tip. So, total was $18.60. That means, without the deal, it would have been around $31! Yikes! Well, I guess I would not have added that $4.35.but, still, hard to see much value in that, or think the business can remain viable at those prices, even though I have to say that the soup tasted very good.
