Microcenter's 7700x bundle is now $350. For $50 more you get: a significantly better cpu (the 7700x is a bit faster than the 5800x3d in gaming and much faster in every other way), a competent am5 platform motherboard (supporting future generations of amd cpus, guaranteed to support zen5 and most likely zen6 as well), and 32gb of ddr5 6000 CL32 using hynix memory chips (twice as much ram as this bundle, and is high quality ddr5). 7700x bundle deal: https://slickdeals.net/f/17288362-amd-ryzen-7-7700x-msi-b650-p-pro-wifi-mobo-g-skill-32gb-ddr5-6000-cl32-ram-microcenter-in-store-pickup-now-349-99

If the 7700x bundle was still $400 this 5800x3d bundle could make some sense as a budget option, but at $350 the 7700x bundle absolutely blows this one away in terms of value.

I believe you are confused about something. The 5800x3d (the cpu in this bundle) is only marginally slower on average than the 7700x in gaming, due to it's massively increased L3 cache. It still loses to the 7700x in gaming performance by a bit, but gets remarkably close for a last gen cpu. In all other respects the 5800x3d is significantly worse than the 7700x, since the vast majority of non-gaming workloads don't benefit much from additional L3 cache, and the 5800x3d is both slower clocked and has a worse ipc (instructions per cycle/clock). This 5800x3d bundle is normally $350 (and sometimes drops to $330), but microcenter is running a two day promotion where all their amd bundles are $50 off. That means this 5800x3d bundle is now $300 (down from $350), the 7700x bundle is now $350 (down from $400), and the 7800x3d bundle is now $450 (down from $500).

zen 3 (the 5800x3d) does not have integrated graphics, but zen 4 (7000 series) does.

if you just need an avg pc, the 7700x should fit the bill and also allow you to upgrade later on if you want.

the 7800x3d is the best gaming cpu at the moment but at higher resolutions/settings, and depending on the gpu & games you play, the differences become fairly marginal.

Oh got it, thanks. I don't ever remember having an issue with getting money back on a return though, even in a combo. Or maybe that was Fry's...
I tried multiple times on the last time one of these bundle deals came up and they absolutely refused to do a partial return at my Microcenter. All or nothing,.

You will have better luck doing a partial return if you add each component to the cart individually, then check out. Multiple people reported success with this method during the last sale.

On that note: Can anyone who bought share the cost breakdown of each item?

When I bought my 7900x bundle they said if something was defective you could exchange for store credit to be used on something else in store (Denver Store)

So which is the better deal?So many of these popping up. I want to jump on one of them. Are we splitting hairs at this point. Need an average PC. Do all these AMDs have integrated graphics ?
Hard to beat the 7700X deal, especially as they now have a $50 discount (though I think they had it with a better motherboard (Gigabyte?) recently at $400). The 5800X3D bundle may have a better motherboard (ASUS), but it's still an older architecture with only 16GB DDR4 for that $50 you'd be saving.
You can also get the $330 i7 bundle. Comes with i7-12700K, MSI MB, and 16GB DDR4. Like the 5800X3D, it's a little older tech with only DDR4, but some people do prefer having Intel. The i7 it will still serve most 'average' needs and then some, where the 5800X3D is more aimed at gaming I believe (and doesn't include the integrated graphics).

hard to recommend the 5800x3d as a new AM4 build. As a standing AM4 upgrade, sure, but then you don't need the rest of this bundle.... unless you want to throw your old AM4 chip onto this board and ram and sell it off. The guy with the 1700x from the other Ryzen thread would be a good candidate.

Go to view cart...it shows you the breakdown in price for each item of the bundle. The store manager should let you exchange...there is not guarantee on return for cash.
YMMV. My local Microcenter told me to kick rocks when I tried that

Working on two builds, one intel and one amd. I would like the 5800x3d processor but want to swap the motherboard and ram for an intel motherboard and ddr5 ram. Would that be possible at microcenter?

You just have to search for motherboards separately. Will tell you the discount when bought with certain processors.

i really wish these bundles would start including ITX or M-ATX boards.

Would really open up options.

I'll try this, maybe it'll work? Might be easier to do the return on a separate day.

Great vid! Honestly, since the 5800x3d is just supposed to be a 15-20% gain over the 5800x, what this really tells me is that since I already have a nice board with 64GB of RAM with a 3090 that almost never gets exercised, I really should just put the credit card down and not touch anything. Seems like there's no point since I'm already running most everything at ultra settings on 3440x1440 and I'm happy with the frame rate. Trying to figure out a way to spend $200 instead of $300 to max out the board would be better served just upgrading completely again in a few years and spending zero now. Selling a previous gen board and memory online or in Facebook Marketplace is likely more trouble than it's worth anyway.
