I got the same deal but I spoke to customer care after a month and got it unlocked saying I have a international travel and need to use different network sim. Phone is unlocked within an hour. I had to talk to 3 customer care reps and the last one said they will unlock it.

Not a good deal. $289 P7 deal was great, $189 P7P deal was insane but $489? No thx. This time last year P7 was $289 with 12 months service and P7 was unlocked. I know, I immediately used my P7 on Visible account and gave Mint service to my broke cousin.

I know P8, but P8 is as old as P7 was 1 year ago.

I doubt Google Phone is any better. Their customer service is lacking too,

Can we anticipate any price drops with 8 series pixels or I do not have any other option but to wait for 7a to fall in price when 8a launches in May?

I got a similar deal with the Pixel 7 & 15Gb/month for 12 months plan for like $500 total last year. I've had a great experience so far, no real complaints.

EDIT: I actually paid $360 after tax, not $500!
