I want to love this thing, BUT beware...

I'm about to send my 2nd one back for the same reason that I exchanged the 1st one. IDK if it's a design flaw, but what are the odds that I received two duds in a row?

The problem is that it loses a lot of power while it sits. After being fully charged, it shows that it has only 61% charge remaining after sitting for less than two weeks. And yes, this is with it fully OFF. They were not in "low power" charging mode, and no cables were attached to potentially trigger it. So there's no reason for it (them) to dissipate energy like that.
QUESTION: Has anyone else had this same type of experience with it?

Also, if you use a current metering device between the wall charger and the Anker, current continues to flow into the Anker even after the Anker's meter shows 100% charge. So there's some inaccuracy there too.

Other than that, it has a lot going for it. Super fast charging when using a high-output charger. (Although that will wear on the batteries more than if you charge it more slowly.) Great compatibility with a wide variety of equipment. I'd love to keep it, but I need something that will be available in an emergency (after sitting unused) and this ain't it!
I have not had this problem at all. I didn't use it for a month or so and it started back up normally with 80% or so and I'm not even sure it was at 100% before letting it sit. Do you leave yours outside in a cold car overnight or something?

Make sure you don't leave the power on it. Press and hold the button, and a little light will go on (or off) on the display. If the light is on, power is 'on' and will be draining slowly. I believe it's described somewhere in the instruction manual, or maybe I found it online. I don't think this device is worth it at this price. Also, you need a way to fast charge it. I got a MacBook Pro charger from Amazon that nearly maxes it out. You're paying for high input and output, so if you don't need both of those, there are better options. And no, not lifepo4.

This thing is a beast, and probably one of my favorite batteries I have (I have too many).

The one thing I will say - which is just a guess - that I think this is being discounted because Anker is moving to the Anker Prime 27 [anker.com], which also has the charging base option [anker.com]. The Prime 27 is 27,650mAh, and weighs slightly more and is slightly larger. It costs more, as does the base option.

That wouldn't stop me from grabbing this deal though.

How long does it take you charge the SteamDeck from the wall outlet?
They're asking the quantity of times they can expect to charge the steam deck, not how long it will take. It's just bad grammar

RIght.

But you need to know how long in order to calculate how much each charge takes.
As an hypotethical example, 120W x 1 hour = 120Wh. Then, this power bank will provide about 88% assuming 100% efficiency.

https://www.tsa.gov/travel/securi...watt-hours

160Wh is the limit
So 27.65Ah x 3.7V = 102.305Wh

That's only with airline approval which is a hassle. I would rather stick with under 100 wh and not be held up by TSA.

Is it a solid rule these should be viewed as 3.7V? Both the Anker site and Amazon site (copies Anker's) says it is 99.54Wh (TSA approved) which would imply 3.6V used in the calculation. I don't understand how voltage is determined, but a Google search suggests that at least some power banks are treated as 3.6V so therefore this one can/may be too? Is there any way or evidence to show TSA of that if they believe otherwise?

If the Anker site says 99.54Wh, you can go by that. You will likely need to provide documentation to TSA at the airport.

99.54Wh รท 24Ah = 4.1475V which is an odd voltage

The voltage is depends on the batteries inside. 3.7V is nominal for 18650 batteries which are widely used.

Reportedly Anker says this is 99.54Wh so it would be okay.
