A nice, made in the USA square. I picked one up and HD even gave military discount on top of sale price. Thanks OP! Been needing a framing square for a while. My steel one is so dingy, it's almost impossible to see the numbers and lines now. Got a new speed square to boot. Win win situation!

Loooove these rafter squares with the notches for marking. I have the tiny one and this one and they're great.

FYI, I would recommend never buying these online and always go to the store to pick out a good one. These types of squares, and given yea their intended use is rough framing, are often visibly imprecise to the naked eye. I picked these up and only found 1 in a pile of 10 that I thought was acceptable.

What do you mean visibly imprecise? Like if they were that bad, I would have hoped that it would've been rejected by qa and not released for sale. How else would you check the square ness? Bring your own square that you know to be square?

It's a framing square, the QA tolerances are quite low. What I generally observed was a bow in the longest edge, when you held it close to your eye and look end to end you can see a curve. Also seeing gaps when placed on a known flat surface (I.e. walk it over to a table saw on display).

If you are ONLY framing with these don't worry about it. A 16th rarely matters in rough framing. But if you are doing any kind of woodworking or finish work pay close attention.

Gotcha. But the rafter square tolerances should be much tighter then?

You'd be surprised how many of them have a good bit of wang. It's like trying to find a straight 2x4.

You better go to the store to pick a good one. A lot of them are either bent or scratched up. A batch had gouges, like from a forklift when they were still in a box or maybe dragged on the floor.

Mine was delivered to home today. Checked against a nice straight surface and looked down the edges as well. All appears straight and true.
