Homedepot has these for $3 or less based on the 4 locations I get supplies from. Check the clearance section. I've seen them as low as $1

The big draw for this would be somewhere that you want to lay out/wrap something like strings of Christmas lights that you'll disconnect in just a few weeks, but might get rained or snowed on. If you live in a particularly windy spot, like we do, it might help keep them from disconnecting, and keep them drier than just linking normally. If you're going to use them on a covered porch to link string bulb sets, it might also come in handy if your rains come in sideways like ours often can. Not for use with a necessarily critical thing, or to be buried. Conduit would be more appropriate, for sure.

The $3 I've seen there are for 2-prong, where this appears to be for 3-prong. This looks like a similar price to the 3-prong twist n seal at the depot though.

The Depot model is Twist and Seal.

I'd say this is 15% below everyday price for this type of item.

I used these for 2 Christmas seasons in a row, several months at a time, with heavy rain & snow. They kept the plugs safe and waterproof the whole time, even when water pooled on the ground around them. Obviously conduit is better but for lighting up some trees on my porch they worked great.

This is better for longer term applications, especially ones where you may frequently need to plug / unplug the connection or where the cord might drag against the ground thus disturbing the tape.

Side note, I think this is a pretty normal price for this (type) of product. Purchased several recently at Home Depot.
