I got one of these last week. One of the fans (cpu) doesn't reach the speed of the gpu fan and it wasn't venting out of the side of the cpu, only the back. Temps get high, but I ended up putting it on a cooling pad when I saw it reached 98 (with fans on max). With the fans turned on max, there is a terrible high-pitched whine. I had already submitted a return request because of that, then I went to load a game last night and opening any game causes intense system lag. I reset the laptop, did a fresh windows install, then only installed Apex Legends and still, when the game is opened, the computer barely functions. Of course it's hit or miss with the refurbs, but this one seemed to be in good shape. It still had sticky plastic wrap on the hinges and the battery showed a cycle or two in November and there wasn't a scratch on it.
I really like this laptop, but it just doesn't seem like it's built to last. Reviews say the wifi card sucks and I can tell you, the speakers are absolute dogshit and the fans are loud, but it's a lot of tech for the price... just make sure you test it thoroughly and save the box. I'm not sure how easy that Allstate warranty is to deal with, but I think I'm just going to B&M Best Buy to get something new.
Good price for the spec. Wish this is the miniLED version.
I've been eyeing the refurbished min-LED version at $2399 with the same 9% off for a while now. Still too expensive for me, maybe if under 2k. But then the new Asus ROG Scar 16 with 2k+ dimming zones is pulling me in that direction. It's also more expensive, but more zones!!!
