what AVR can you buy for $300 that has anywhere near the feature set of this?

$640 now at Adorama, so still cheaper than this if you need it now. Also showing $640 at Amazon (sold by Adorama).
Yep, and all time low was $530 on BF. The NR6050 is still $299 there (note: no Dirac). I picked the 6050 up during BF and have been very happy with it. I am planning to bite on this when it hits $499 or the RZ50 at $799 or less.
Are you talking about HDMI? It has 6 2.1 ports:
