No need to call any Bay Area Costco stores. Already confirmed it is not available any Costco stores in the Bay Area by one of the stores.

Decided to go for this and will likely return my M3 Pro 1tb model that, while also a smoking holiday deal, is still $600 more and the return date is tomorrow. I'd be paying $600 more for extra storage, faster SSD speed, 2 extra gb of ram, and the admittedly cool space black color. But it's only a modest performance gain, and this deal blows most other MBP deals out of the water. I'll apply the savings to upgrade my next computer and an external drive.

Grabbed the closest one I could locally, but still had to drive an hour. It took a good 30 minutes of phone calls to various warehouses to find one and get straight answers--and I tried different stores and got different opinions on what OTHER stores had (some said none anywhere and some said yes). The item # was removed from many systems (shows up as "deleted") and some staff were better than others in figuring out how to accurately search for nearby inventory.

Bottom line--be prepared to make calls and then follow-up calls to the stores themselves to get confirmation. You can ask a store that has one to "hold" the item for you--they've done this for me twice before on other items and they did it again for me today.

Here is what I was told but this info could already be out of date:

2 left in New Rochelle, NY
1 left in Nanuet, NY
1 in Teterboro, NJ
2 in Brandywine, MD.

Happy hunting.
Does this include the long island Costco's?

Is the AppleCare warranty worth it on this? It's $219 but these laptops last a while. Any feedback?

Minimal specs at an OK price.
Don't expect it to last many years and don't hope to get it repaired after warranty has expired.

I was told they searched "the whole northeast" FWIW -- but different stores seem to have different definitions of what that is. Delaware told me nothing in PA, DE, NJ, but then New Rochelle told me they had 2 + Teterboro & Nanuet had one or two. Princeton said "nothing in the whole Northeast." Heck, I would think New Rochelle would have looked up LI, but I wouldn't assume anything given the variety of answers. Bottom line is that the calls eventually steered me to one that was left in Manahawkin, NJ.

The one I got must have been buried in the back for at least a year as it had only 14% battery left when I booted it up. Still booted up, though.

Picked up one in Lake Elsinore, CA. They seemed to have a bunch more.
Thanks. I got one in Lake Elsinore, CA, about an hour's drive from Los Angeles. It's worth the trip. They seem to have 5-6 in stock, but I recommend calling ahead to confirm.

I've used several of the new MacBooks. I'm not a power user by any means, but my favorite form factor is the new 15" M2 MacBook Air. The 15" Air hits the sweet spot for screen size and portability.

Runner up is the 14" MacBook Pro. The screen is just a tad too small, but it makes up for it with the high refresh rate and Mini-LED panel while staying relatively slim/portable.

The 13" M2 MacBook Air is great if you want something extremely portable, but I felt like I was sacrificing too much screen size. Not being a power user, I think the 16" Pro is too Campbell's Thick N Chunky for my needs; I love the screen size though. I wish Apple would make a 16" Air.

Currently using a 14" M1 Pro; got it used locally for less than the cost of a SteamDeck. When buying used, just make sure it's clear of any iCloud activation locks and always check the system settings for battery cycles.
