Thanks. I got one in Lake Elsinore, CA, about an hour's drive from Los Angeles. It's worth the trip. They seem to have 5-6 in stock, but I recommend calling ahead to confirm.
Just got to Lake Elsinore location near closing and they just ran out Frown

Much rather my 14 inch for work, carrying it from job sites and using it in tight spaces is much easier. 16 inch wins if you don't need to lug it around

It gets better. The manager called me this evening, asking if I wanted their remaining regional inventory. 27 of them for—get this—$467.97 each. She left a VM saying she'll pull them from the system inventory and hold them for me. Going to pick them up on Tuesday.
So, how much you selling them for?

Hopefully it drops to $999.97 then i'm in. Not convinced it's worth it for $1200 for 95% of users doing basic tasks.
If you only do basic tasks this is still an amazing laptop. Don't limit yourself to only doing basic tasks. Maybe getting this machine will give you the ability to take classes and learn to do non-basic stuff like video editing, 3D rendering, work with RAW photography, etc. At this price there is so much potential to grow and do other things. Sometimes people will get a cheap laptop because they were told they only do "basic things" and don't realize they can grow out of that box that people imposed on them. But yea it's a great deal.

I've used several of the new MacBooks. I'm not a power user by any means, but my favorite form factor is the new 15" M2 MacBook Air. The 15" Air hits the sweet spot for screen size and portability.

Runner up is the 14" MacBook Pro. The screen is just a tad too small, but it makes up for it with the high refresh rate and Mini-LED panel while staying relatively slim/portable.

The 13" M2 MacBook Air is great if you want something extremely portable, but I felt like I was sacrificing too much screen size. Not being a power user, I think the 16" Pro is too Campbell's Thick N Chunky for my needs; I love the screen size though. I wish Apple would make a 16" Air.

Currently using a 14" M1 Pro; got it used locally for less than the cost of a SteamDeck. When buying used, just make sure it's clear of any iCloud activation locks and always check the system settings for battery cycles.
I got to choose my new laptop for work and went for the 14" MBP (mine is the M2 Pro). It's great for day to day use with multiple monitors, it's fast, and just works well. It's a little heavy and I've always had an Air at home. I sold my M1 Air for almost what I paid for it two years prior and picked up a 13" M2 Air for personal use. It's perfect. Definitely a matter of preference, at least there's lots to choose from.

Thought I scored last night @ 1199 and now feel like I overpaid! Lesson learned—when Costco wants to move inventory the local store will do whatever it takes to clear the shelves. I'll be watching for the next time I need something.
